How to Make Your Manifesting Garden Grow

One of the most important secrets to cultivating a successful garden
is creating a rich environment in which the seeds can grow. Seeds can
only germinate in soil that has the perfect amount of nutrients,
light and water. In order for the seeds of your dreams to blossom and
manifest into the world, it is vital that you create the most ideal
environment for these seeds with the proper amount of nutrients,
light, and water to germinate. When it comes to manifesting, your
dreams and desires are the seeds, and the soil is the energetic
frequency at which your bodymind is vibrating at. If you are
vibrating at a lower frequency, your soil may be brittle or lack
nutrients, which may cause certain BIG dreams seeds to need more
attention or they will dry out and whither away.

The light that you shower upon your seeds is the light of your own
conscious awareness. By simply shining your attention on the seeds
which you most want to manifest, they will immediately begin to
receive more energy and begin to grow. You mind is the like the
greenhouse that tends to filter the light and re-focus it so you can
let in the right amount of light and heat. With the right manifesting
mindset you will see your greenhouse become a utopian garden where
your dream seeds naturally grow bigger than any weeds that may get in
your way.

When you are vibrating at an energetic frequency that is in alignment
with what you want to manifest, your dream seeds have the proper rich
soil in which to sprout and grow into healthy plants and flowers. So
what does it take to create this rich soil? One element that makes
soil inhospitable is limiting beliefs and thoughts. Take a moment to
look deep inside and ask yourself, "What negative beliefs or thoughts
are stopping my dreams from germinating today?" The easiest way to
shift these beliefs and enrich your manifesting soil is to do The
Gremlin removal exercise described in chapter one of "How to Raise
Your Manifesting Vibration." If you don't already have this powerful
e-book, you can download the first chapter for free at
http://www.ManifestingMagnet.com/freechapter.php

Another key to cultivating a successful manifesting garden is a
consistent watering schedule. The best way to water your dream seeds
is to start your day with a manifesting routine
<http://www.manifestingvibration.com%3e/; that supports your bodymind and
soul in becoming more energetically aligned with your desired end
result and manifestation. Each time you follow the manifesting
routine and do a guided manifesting meditation/visualization, you in
essence are watering your seeds so that they germinate and bloom!
Just as gardens love to be watered so do your dream seeds love to be
nurtured with daily visual and emotional positive focus and energy.
The more often you can focus upon and FEEL that your seeds are being
cared for, the faster your dreams will grow into what you truly
desire! Soon you will manifest a garden full of lush nutrient rich
plants ready for you to harvest and enjoy!

To start enriching your inner garden today, you can instantly

exercises and, the 8 habits manifesting routine that will help you
cultivate the perfect manifesting conditions. Your dream seeds are
worth you taking the time and energy to learn how to grow them into
beautiful manifestations that you love and cherish. Find out more at

Clearing the Way for a New Future

<http://www.spws1.net/debbieford/images/DebFordBestYearHeader.jpg>;

This week, I would like to invite you into a deeper level of healing
your internal war. Of course I never ask you to do anything that I'm not
willing to do myself.

The more light we bring to our psyches, the more shadows will appear.
It's just part of the process. Every time we step up, every time we open
up to new possibilities and step into uncharted territories, we
inevitably come face to face with the dark parts of ourselves that have
not yet been exposed or explored.

When we are committed to excellence - when we are committed to the
evolution of our own soul and those around us, and seeking to maximize
our potential - we can get myopically focused on our own agendas in the
name of "doing good." Like any course we are on, there are others who
are on similar courses and those who are on opposing courses, and often
times the two will collide. When we are sure that our course is "The
Right Course" and theirs is "The Wrong Course", we are likely to brush
past them without acknowledging or giving proper notice to the road
they've chosen.

It happens. This is life. There is no need to beat ourselves up for the
next ten years over it, but there is a spiritual responsibility to stop
and look at what we leave behind, our trail. In other words, are you
leaving toxic gases in your immediate universe? And if so, what are they
made of and what can you do about them?

Since I started my writing career, I've gone through a few difficult
situations. They are over now, and it no longer matters who was right or
who was wrong, what they did or what I did. The only thing that matters
is whether I can see the consequences of my actions or inactions and
whether I've learned the lessons that these experiences have tried to
bestow upon me. The following questions are a few that I like to dwell
in when I'm seeking to find the gifts:

How can I use this experience to become the kind of person my soul longs
to be?

How can I use this lesson so that others can learn from me and maybe
bypass a difficult life experience?

How can I use this to heal my own heart?

And...

How can I use this lesson to help the healing of the planet? [That is,
if the planet really needs healing.]

Believe me, when I am angry or hurt the last thing I want to do is ask
these questions. Hurt and anger leave me feeling righteous and shut
down. So first I have to heal the anger and the hurt, which is really
the deeper invitation of this week's newsletter.

To begin, I have to give myself permission to feel, be with, and accept
all the anger and hurt that I'm carrying. I have to get out of my head,
where I can justify and rationalize all my pain, and get into the heart
of my inner child - the little, sensitive part of me that likes to hold
on to my pain as a form of self-protection. I have to, with open arms,
give myself all the internal space I need to do the kind of healing work
necessary to let go of the past, to forgive myself, and to forgive
others. I have to acknowledge the aspect of myself that would rather
hang on for dear life to my story, my position, and my reasons rather
than take responsibility and give up the blame.

Once I do this, I am fertilizing the ground of my consciousness, a
necessity if I am to grow and move forward. It is the process of tilling
the soil of my psyche and weeding the dead and useless emotional roots
so that I can prepare my soul for new and exciting futures to emerge.

For each of us, this is a process. If we are committed to letting go of
the past and ending the internal war, the steps to healing our hurt and
anger will eventually lead us to "I'm sorry".

Below is a letter to myself that I recently wrote. The love I'm giving
myself here is to apologize and say "I'm sorry" for all the ways I've
participated in behaviors and circumstances that didn't serve my deeper
heart. While encouraging you to write a letter of apology to yourself, I
want to say that my list may not make sense to you. This is a personal
dialogue between you and the most private, delicate parts of yourself -
an intimate conversation written for you and by you. This is where the
healing needs to take place. It doesn't even matter if you
intellectually understand why certain things will come into your
awareness. It's about healing the emotional self. As I wrote in The Dark
Side of the Light Chasers, knowing is the booby prize. It doesn't matter
to our emotional selves what we know. And as I wrote in Spiritual
Divorce, our minds can't take us where our hearts long to go. So, "I'm
sorry" is the process of feeling the remorse and sorrow for things we've
somehow participated in, co-created, or allowed to happen to ourselves:

I'm sorry that I didn't make better choices for myself. I'm sorry that I
didn't take the time to make sure I was safe. I'm sorry that I stepped
over my intuition and refused to listen to the messages of the universe.
I'm sorry that I didn't ask for help sooner. I'm sorry that I allowed
fear to guide so many of my choices. I'm sorry that I choose fear over
faith. I'm sorry that I hurt people I love. I'm sorry I couldn't make
everyone understand my perspective. I'm sorry I ever chose that path in
the first place. I'm sorry that I felt so desperate that I didn't take
the time to do my due diligence. I'm sorry that I didn't have more faith
in myself. I'm sorry that I hurt myself so badly. I'm sorry I'm not
perfect. I'm sorry that I couldn't see the bigger picture, and I am very
sorry that I let others influence my decisions. I'm sorry that I wasn't
wise enough to have worked everything out by myself. I am sorry that I
didn't know how to stand up for myself. I'm sorry that my heart was not
strong enough and that my ego won out so many times. I'm mostly sorry
for the violence that I did to my own body and psyche. And with this, I
ask all the sweet, scared, innocent parts of myself to forgive me.

Once I expressed "I'm sorry" to myself, I was finally clear enough to
offer a genuine apology to others:

I am sorry to all the people that I have hurt directly and indirectly. I
am sorry for the pain that others felt and for the powerlessness they
experienced just by being around me. Please forgive me, my friends and
loved ones, my family, my co-workers, and my community. Please forgive
me, my precious son. To everyone who was on the opposing side of my
conflicts, please forgive me for all the ways you felt unloved,
disrespected, and uncared for by me.

And lastly, I am sorry to God for losing faith. Please, God, forgive my
unhealed heart and give me the power and the courage now to forgive
myself.

Take Action Now!

With pen in hand, tend to the sorrow in your heart. Take a deep breath,
and write it all down. I promise you, you'll feel lighter by the time
you're finished.

With love & blessings,

Debbie

Sonnet # LXX.

That thou art blamed shall not be thy defect,
For slander's mark was ever yet the fair;
The ornament of beauty is suspect,
A crow that flies in heaven's sweetest air.
So thou be good, slander doth but approve
Thy worth the greater, being woo'd of time;
For canker vice the sweetest buds doth love,
And thou present'st a pure unstained prime.
Thou hast pass'd by the ambush of young days,
Either not assail'd or victor being charged;
Yet this thy praise cannot be so thy praise,
To tie up envy evermore enlarged:
If some suspect of ill mask'd not thy show,
Then thou alone kingdoms of hearts shouldst owe.

Donkey in the well

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried
piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally
he decided the animal was old, hat the well needed to be covered anyway
and that it just wasn't worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all
his neighbours to come over and help him.

They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At
first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then,
to everyone's amazement, he quietened down. A few shovel loads later, the
farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw.
With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing
something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the
farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he
would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed
as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!
Life is going t o shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to
getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.

Beware of duty

“Should is an ordinary, everyday word -- except when it is used to indicate an order that may not be refused. Then should becomes a finger waving under the nose. …Should users build prison cells for themselves. They are so focused on what they should do -- that they cannot think about what they can do, what they might do in the future.”

-- Dr. Arthur Freeman and Rose Dewolf

Many of us have been taught to do our duty. What does this imply to you? For me, ‘doing my duty’ means doing something I really don’t want to do. My heart’s not in it, and so the energy for the act isn’t there. I have to force every move. Usually, there’s underlying resentment. When this is the scenario, tasks may get done but there’s no gift to the world.

We do not truly serve the world if we give to others but neglect our own truth and our own needs. It’s only when our own needs are fully met that we can generously and whole-heartedly give of ourselves. It’s not selfish to look after ourselves -- it’s essential!

“To serve is beautiful, but only if it is done with joy and a whole heart.”

-- Pearl S. Buck

I breathe in peace, I breathe out peace.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
The DailyAffirm process now shifts to helping you to
integrate and embody your thoughts and feelings about the
exploration of peace during this month. Today's affirmation
allows your breath to assist with the integration. When you
begin to clear and heal (as, for example, at the beginning
of the month on DailyAffirm or the beginning of a new
awakening), I am likely to say "Breathe in peace, breathe
out non-peace" or other such words and ideas. I find it
helpful to use the in-breath to receive light or anything
else that you desire while you use the out-breath to let go
of darkness or anything that you wish to release. In
today's affirmation, letting go becomes as simple and matter
of fact as breathing in and breathing out.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Today's affirmation is an ideal one to chant. That is, to
say the affirmation either aloud or silently over and over
again, rhythmically. You may even find yourself singing the
words so that you create a song. You can let your breath
create the tempo. You can also use this affirmation to slow
you down: if you are agitated, start by saying the
affirmation quickly and then gradually slow down until you
have calmed and relaxed yourself. Feel the peace.
ABOUT A QUOTATION
"Better than a thousand useless words is one single word
that gives peace. Better than a thousand useless verses is
one single verse that gives peace. Better than a hundred
useless poems is one single poem that gives peace." -The
Dhammapada (c. B.C. 300)
ABOUT TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE
I invite you to submit one or more Targets for Love and
Peace. Please include the target (stated succinctly) and a
high intention. Here is another that was submitted by a
Dailyaffirm subscriber.
Target: Adult Children
Intention: We lovingly accept the adult children of the
world who still feel like a hurting child within. We know
that within us is a child who is ready to grow up and live
fully in this life. We surround all children with our love.
TO CHOOSE TIME IS TO SAVE TIME
You always have enough time if you will but use it wisely.
Your dilemma goes deeper than having a shortage of time,
it's basically a problem of priorities.
Most people leave undone those things that should be done,
while they do things that they shouldn't be doing.
Set priorities for your goals.
A major part of successful living lies in your ability to put first things first.
Most major goals are not achieved because people put second things first.
Is what you're doing getting you closer to your objectives?
Anything that is wasted effort represents wasted time.
Don't serve time; make time serve you.
Responsibility brings power
"To be tested is good. The challenged life may be the best therapist."
-- Gail Sheehy
What holds you back from being all that you are?
In your journal, list at least 5 things that hold you back.
Now review your answers. Have you blamed people or factors outside of yourself?
It's important to understand that ALL obstructions are rooted in our internal blocks. Even the problems that appear to be outside of us are only reflecting back to us problems we have inside. Once we address our inner issues, the outer problems disappear.
Be personally accountable for everything in your life and watch your perspectives shift. We claim our power when we accept responsibility for our lives.
"Conscious evolution begins as we take responsibility for clearing our own obstructions."
-- Dan Millman
Roses of Life
Rose
I've dreamed many dreams that never came true,
I've seen them vanish at dawn.
But I've realized enough of my dreams, thank God,
To make me want to dream on.
I've prayed many prayers, when no answers came,
Though I waited so patient and long,
But answers came to enough of my prayers
To make me keep praying on.
I've trusted many a friend who failed
And left me to week alone,
But I've found enough of my friends to be true
To make me keep trusting on.
I've sown many seeds that fell by the way
For the birds to feed upon,
But I've held enough golden sheaves in my hands
To make me keep sowing on.
I've drained the cup of disappointment and pain
And gone many days without song,
But I've sipped enough nectar from the roses of life
To make me want to live on.
Sonnet # LXIX.
Those parts of thee that the world's eye doth view
Want nothing that the thought of hearts can mend;
All tongues, the voice of souls, give thee that due,
Uttering bare truth, even so as foes commend.
Thy outward thus with outward praise is crown'd;
But those same tongues that give thee so thine own
In other accents do this praise confound
By seeing farther than the eye hath shown.
They look into the beauty of thy mind,
And that, in guess, they measure by thy deeds;
Then, churls, their thoughts, although their eyes were kind,
To thy fair flower add the rank smell of weeds:
But why thy odour matcheth not thy show,
The solve is this, that thou dost common grow.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU DO
The beginning of a habit is like an invisible thread.
Every time you repeat the act you strengthen the strand.
You add to it another filament with each repetition,
until it becomes a great cable
and binds you irrevocably to each thought and act.
First you make your habits
and then they make you.
Your thoughts lead you to your purpose.
Your purpose always manifests into action.
Your actions form your habits.
Your habits determine your character,
and your character fixes your destiny.
Your habits are either the best of servants or the worst of masters.
Embracing Your Shadow, part one
=================================
'What we want to change in others is what we haven't loved in
ourselves.'
-Dr. John F. DeMartini
On my radio show this week, a woman phoned in to ask for advice
about dating a man of a different race. She loved him, but her
family had said they would completely disown her if she decided
to marry him. After a few questions, she revealed that her
secret fear was that she might be racist like her family.
What I said next didn't really seem to surprise her, though it
clearly surprised a few people listening judging by the e-mails
that I got after the show. I told her that chances were, she
probably was a bit racist - after all, it would be extremely
difficult to grow up in an intensely racist environment and not
pick up on at least some elements of that racism at an
unconscious level.
But I also pointed out that whether or not she judged people as
better than or worse than based on the color of their skin was
not necessarily a problem if she recognized it and even
embraced it.
This is based on a fundamental tenet of Jungian shadow work -
when you disown a part of yourself, it winds up running your
life. In other words, you will begin speaking, acting and even
pursuing certain goals in life in an unconscious attempt to
'prove' you are not whatever your secret fear tells you that you
might be. You will begin to project that unowned trait onto
the people around you and be amazed to suddenly find yourself
living in a world populated by people who exhibit that horrible,
abhorrent trait and do things that you would 'never, ever, do,
no matter what!'
This is one of the reasons we have pro-lifers killing people who
support abortion, relationship 'experts' who can't sustain a
happy marriage and crusaders for peace waging war on the powers
that be.
The flipside of that rule is what sets you free:
Once you embrace (or 'own') a trait, that trait no longer runs
your life.
I then went on to tell a story I once heard about Gerry Spence,
a controversial trial lawyer with a soft spot for defending
underdogs and a 25+ year record of having never lost a criminal
trial.
Early in his career, Spence was called in to defend a black man
accused of raping and murdering two white teenage girls in the
deep South. In selecting the jury, Spence asked each
prospective juror if they were racist. With the consent of his
client, Spence would only allow people who admitted that they
were actually racist onto the jury.
His assumption was that a. pretty much everyone who grew up in
the deep South at that time was liable to be at least a little
bit racist and b. if someone was willing to be honest about
themselves, even if it made them look bad, they would be willing
to be take an honest look at the facts instead of being blinded
by their prejudice.
The same is true of each one of us - when we are willing to
embrace the totality of ourselves, 'warts and all', we become
able to live according to our dreams and possibilities instead
of our limitations and fears.
I have played with a number of variations of the following
experiment over the years. All I can tell you is that if you
are willing to take it on, it is intensely liberating (and
often, very, very funny!)...
-----------------------------------------------------
Today's Experiment - Creating 'Shadow Affirmations':
-----------------------------------------------------
1. What is your secret fear about yourself? That is, what would
you least like people to find out about you?
2. What trait do you most dislike in others? What is it that
other people do that makes your blood boil?
3. What's the worst thing that anyone could ever say about you?
4. Now, create a 'shadow affirmation' for each of the things you
have come up with in the previous three questions.
For example:
'I am a selfish bastard.'
'I am a self-righteous bitch'
'I am a manipulative cow'
'I am a complete idiot'
Etc.
As with 'real' affirmations, have some fun with this. Repeat
them often. Emphasize a different word each time you say them.
Make up a song and use your shadow affirmation as a lyric.
(For example, try singing 'I am a selfish bastard' to the tune
of 'Yankee Doodle Dandy'... :-)
Many people resist this exercise like crazy, only to find when
they give in and just do it they wind up laughing hysterically
and losing all their negative charge around the trait or traits
they have so desperately been trying to prove aren't a part of
who they are.
5. Finally, add the phrase 'Sometimes, ...and sometimes I'm not'
to your shadow affirmation.
For example:
'Sometimes, I am a self-righteous bitch, and sometimes I'm not.'
'Sometimes, I am a complete idiot and sometimes I'm not.'
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT NOT TO SKIP STEP FOUR AND JUMP TO STEP
FIVE. You will lose much of the impact of the exercise should
you choose to do so...
Next week, I'll be talking about the 'positive shadow' - how we
tend to disown our greatness and magnificence and how we can
embrace our genius.
Until then, have fun and learn heaps!
With love,
michael
I act with purposeful awareness of peace in every moment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Much of humanity is opening to a new conscious awareness.
Humans are already conscious beings, becoming more conscious
of consciousness. When you are aware of your own process
and its purpose, you are intentionally conscious of being
conscious. When you first become aware of something, you
might experience pain or exhilaration or fear or curiosity.
Awakening is a personal experience, as personal and varied
as the awakening from nighttime sleep that you experience
every day. Some grumble, some yawn, some leap from their
beds, some sing to the sun, some reach for their glasses on
the bed stand, some roll over to return to sleep. So, too,
awakening from unconsciousness to consciousness and then
awakening to purposeful awareness are individual processes.
Today, awaken to the awareness of peace.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Do you consider yourself to be aware? Your answer is
probably "yes" and perhaps even a resounding "yes!" To
which my next question is: Of what? It may be very easy
for you to say that you are conscious, that you are aware.
To claim PURPOSEFUL awareness is a step beyond being
conscious. And yet another step is to be purposefully aware
in EVERY MOMENT. Knowing that additional consciousness is
available can be a source of great comfort. Are you acting
with the enlightenment of peace?

ABOUT OTHER ARTICLES
Often I mention articles posted at my Web Site that are
related to the daily affirmations. Today I want to list

ABOUT THE NEXT TYPE OF AFFIRMATIONS
This is the last of the Acting/Claiming Affirmations this
month. Tomorrow the Integrating/Embodying peace affirmations
begin. Today is a good day to check for a final action you
might want to take to demonstrate peace. Of course, each day
forward you might want to claim and demonstrate peace. A
re-visit of your over-arching intention for peace also
allows you to integrate more fully all that you have
learned this month.

Stop Settling for Less

"If you must compromise, compromise up."

--Eleanor Roosevelt

~*~ Topic of the Week - Stop Settling for Less ~*~

My inspiration for this week's broadcast comes from an experience I had
while traveling this past week. When I arrived at the airport for one of
my flights, I discovered that the gate attendant who handled my seat
assignment had mistakenly booked me in a center seat at the back of the
plane -- the last place a frequent traveler like myself wants to sit.

I was originally told that the plane was much larger than it turned out to
be, so I thought my assignment would be okay. But when I arrived at my
seat, I could see that I was about to spend five hours cramped in the back
and I really wanted to make a change. When I turned around to head up
front, I was faced with a long line of passengers waiting for me to put my
luggage in the overhead compartment so they could get to their seats. I
sat down feeling frustrated and annoyed.

As the passengers continued to board, I started a conversation in my head
that went something like this: "Well, one trip in a bad seat won't kill
you, Cheryl. The flight seems full, there are too many people trying to
board, and you'll only cause problems if you change seats now." I even
tried the "Just breathe and use this situation as an opportunity to
practice acceptance." Then I snapped out of it.

When the aisle cleared slightly, I left my bag in the overhead bin and
quickly moved to the front of the plane. I politely explained the
situation to the flight attendant and asked if I might have a better seat.
The flight attendant (who was lovely), asked me to step aside and wait.
Several minutes later she returned and led me to the aisle seat in the
bulkhead section of the plane -- one of my favorite seats. I sat down
with a sigh of relief feeling deeply grateful to this woman.

What's the moral of this story? Don't settle for less.

My initial reaction to being placed in the wrong seat is an example of how
we talk ourselves into settling for less. We tell ourselves things like:
Don't rock the boat, be nice, always put the needs of others before
yourself, or don't make a scene. All of this translates to: Settle for
less.

Think about it. Have you ever asked for a meal to be prepared in a
special way at a restaurant only to be served the wrong dish and eaten it
anyway? Or have you ever stopped short of buying something you really
want because it costs a little more than you think you deserve? Maybe you
still charge the same fees you've been charging for more than three years
because you're afraid of what others will think if you raise them. Or
maybe you continue to stay in a relationship you've outgrown to protect
another's feelings rather than protect your own.

The bottom line is, we always get what we settle for. When you risk
rocking the boat, disappointing others, or giving yourself more than you
think you deserve, you automatically raise your standards. And when you
raise your standards, you naturally start to attract better things into
your life - better relationships, experiences, and even material
possessions.

By the way, if the idea of settling for more sounds selfish, remember
this: When you want more for yourself, you naturally want more for others
-- a win/win for everyone! I spent too many years settling for less
because I didn't want to upset someone or appear inappropriately entitled
or arrogant. But the truth is this: That's not who I am, and it's not
who my readers and community members are either. Most of us tend to lean
in the opposite direction, giving more to others than we give to
ourselves.

So, in the spirit of healthy change, the next time you find yourself
having a "settling for less" conversation in your head, remember that
settling for a bad seat in an airplane or the wrong meal in a restaurant
may only be a small example of what you settle for in your life.

Are you ready to settle for more?

~*~ Take Action Challenge ~*~

This week, pay attention to where you settle for less in your life. You
might even want to make a sign for your home or office that says, "Are you
settling for more?" to remind you to raise your standards. Whether it's
food in a restaurant or the way you allow yourself to be treated in a
relationship, challenge yourself to speak up and ask for what you want.
That way, you'll start receiving the very best.

Listen to your heart

samurai
Horror gripped the heart of a World War I soldier, as he saw his lifelong
friend fell in battle. Caught in a trench with continuous gunfire
whizzing over his head, the soldier asked his Lieutenant if he could go
out into the "no man's land" between the trenches to bring his fallen
comrade back.

"You can go," said the Lieutenant, "but I don't think it will be worth
it. Your friend is probably dead and you may throw your life away." The
Lieutenant's words didn't matter, and the soldier went anyway.

Miraculously, he managed to reach his fiend, hoisted him onto his
shoulder and brought him back to their company's trench. As the two of
them tumbled in together to the bottom of the trench, the officer checked
the wounded soldier, and then looked kindly at his friend. "I told you it
wouldn't be worth it," he said. "You friend is dead and you are mortally
wounded.

"It was worth it, Sir," said the soldier.
"What do you mean by worth it ?" responded the Lieutenant. "You friend is
dead."
"Yes Sir," the private answered, "but it was worth it because when I got
to him, he was still alive and I got the chance to her him
say....."JIM........... I KNEW YOU'D COME."

Many times in life, whether a thing is worth doing or not, really depends
on how you look at it. Take up all your courage and do something your
heart tells you to do, so that you may not regret not doing it later in
your life....

Bring soul into the world

"We live in a culture that is greatly biased against the imagination, because our culture is very materialistic, objective and literal. Our culture lacks soul, and doesn’t know it, although it experiences the consequences. When you don’t know what’s missing, then of course you don’t know what to bring in, even though you feel something is missing."

“We live in a world that needs more soul, more meaning. We, as conscious beings, have, as our primary responsibility, at this time in human history, the task of bringing soul into the world, or releasing soul into the world. We do this, first of all, in ourselves and in our own personal world; then we do it in our groups – including family; then we do it in our society through our work, relationships and presence there.”

OPEN YOUR OWN DOOR TO OPPORTUNITY

Success doesn't come to you. You must go to it.

You don't need more strength or more ability or greater opportunity.
What you need is to use what you have.

The golden opportunity you're seeking is in yourself.
It's not in your environment.
It's not in luck or chance or the help of others.
It's in you.

There will always be a new opportunity
where there is an open mind and a willing hand.

You must make your own opportunities.

I let every act be an act of peace. My peaceful
consciousness makes a difference to my world.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
This affirmation reminds you that peace can be invited into
every action you take. Peace is not passive. Peace, of
course, can be gentle, even silent, yet peace is also
action-oriented. Ordinary daily activities such as brushing
your teeth and talking on the telephone and eating your
breakfast can be experienced with a whole new perspective by
associating them with a peaceful consciousness. So, too,
extraordinary acts can be peaceful. It is the consciousness
of peace that manifests the acts that you call peaceful.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
What, to you, is a "peaceful consciousness"? What, to you,
is a "peaceful act"? You may find you have very broad
definitions or narrow and exacting ones. Regardless of your
personal definition, though, your consciousness and your
actions do make a positive difference in your world when they
are peaceful. Identify some action you will take today
(call it a "target" if you wish) and bathe it with the
consciousness of peace. Remember, also, that it is
acceptable to act in a non-peaceful way and then find a
peaceful resolution.
ABOUT TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE
We welcome your targets and statements of intention.
Remember: The target identifies a focus; the statement of
intention identifies a high intention, clears us of
manipulation or fears or anger, and directs the flow of
loving, peaceful energy to the target. Visit the
DailyAffirm Blog two submit your target as a "comment."
Speak kindly to yourself
“What is this self inside us, this silent observer,
Severe and speechless critic, who can terrorize us,
And urge us on to futile activity,
And in the end, judge us still more severely,
For the errors into which his own reproaches drove us?”
-- T. S. Eliot
How do you talk to yourself? Would you talk that way to anyone else?
Our thoughts create our reality. How do you typically think about yourself? Do you berate yourself for being stupid, sloppy, forgetful or insensitive? Do you watch yourself with interest, respect and compassion? Stay alert to your self-talk and let go of judgments that don’t serve you.
"Self-acceptance is my refusal to be in an adversarial relationship to myself."
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
As a general rule, the most successful people in life
are the ones with the best information.
People with power are people who know how to get things done.
Knowing how to do something is virtually the same as having done it.
Power is the product of understanding.
Knowledge controls access to opportunity and advancement.
There is no knowledge that is not power.
Educate yourself and you build the power to accomplish your goals.
Power gravitates to the one that knows how to do something.
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I draw a circle of peace. I give my peaceful energy to
places on the planet calling for harmony.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
This affirmation embodies the idea of Targets for Love and
Peace that many of you have been working with throughout this
month. Any place that is in disharmony is calling for
harmony; any part in pain is calling for relief; any person
who is living in ignorance is calling for enlightenment.
Newspapers and news broadcasts help you to identify which
people, places, things, and ideas are calling for love and
light and peace. Your own personal experiences also give
you clues for targets. Draw a circle around each target and
all targets, and then fill the circles with peaceful energy.
When you identify your targets, you clear yourself of anger,
resentment, judgment, remorse, disdain, or pity. The
targets probably already have plenty of these energies!
Instead, give them your attention with Peace; give them your
attention with Love.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Around what do you draw a circle today? Perhaps you create
a circle around yourself or a part of your physical body or
your community or the whole world. You have permission to
be selfish or selfless, whatever feels appropriate for you
right now. Envisioning peace in a circle ANY place on the
planet enhances your own awareness of peace. And remember,
you need not limit yourself to only one circle; circles of
peace are unlimited. With your intention high, you make a
positive difference.
ABOUT TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE
As we come to the last days of this month, be certain to
submit a target on any August message on the DailyAffirm
Blog, http://www.dailyaffirm.com if you wish to participate
in this Project. It is a helpful way to ACT on peace.
Target: Abundance and Abundance Consciousness
Intention: We hold a vision of enLIGHTenment flowing into
the consciousness of everyone on the planet, creating the
REALization that there is more than enough for all, and
manifesting the TRUTH of abundance.
In Dreams
"A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
Go to sleep. everything is all right.
I close my eyes, then I drift away
Into the magic night. I softly say
A silent prayerlike dreamers do.
Then I fall asleep to dream my dreams of you.
In dreams I walk with you. in dreams I talk to you.
In dreams youre mine. all of the time were together
In dreams, in dreams.
But just before the dawn, I awake and find you gone.
I cant help it, I cant help it, if I cry.
I remember that you said goodbye.
Its too bad that all these things, can only happen in my dreams
Only in dreams in beautiful dreams."
Sonnet # LXVIII.
Thus is his cheek the map of days outworn,
When beauty lived and died as flowers do now,
Before the bastard signs of fair were born,
Or durst inhabit on a living brow;
Before the golden tresses of the dead,
The right of sepulchres, were shorn away,
To live a second life on second head;
Ere beauty's dead fleece made another gay:
In him those holy antique hours are seen,
Without all ornament, itself and true,
Making no summer of another's green,
Robbing no old to dress his beauty new;
And him as for a map doth Nature store,
To show false Art what beauty was of yore.
Limited perspectives
“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
-- Angela Monet
We never have enough information to enable us to fully understand the truth of the reality around us. And there is never only one correct perspective about anything.
Knowing this helps me let go of my tendency to label things as good or bad. I suffer least when I can accept reality just as it is. And I benefit most when I open my heart and mind in appreciation.
“If you are pained by external things, it is not they that disturb you, but your own judgment of them. And it is in your power to wipe out that judgment now.”
-- Marcus Aurelius
EVERY FAILURE IS A STEP CLOSER TO SUCCESS
People who try to do something and fail
are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed.
Experiencing failure is inevitable on your journey to be successful.
Every defeat is merely an installment to victory.
You'll find that the number of times you succeed is in direct proportion
to the number of times you fail and keep trying.
You won't be judged by the number of times you fail,
but by the number of times you succeed.
Failure is nothing but education,
nothing but the first step to something better.
You can't be a winner and be afraid to lose.
I manifest all things in association with peace. Peace is
my partner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Ah, such a partner, Peace. All that you have manifested on
the physical plane has been a process of co-creation.
Sometimes you co-create what you like or prefer and sometimes
you co-create what you do not like or prefer. Your own
creations depend on where you put your attention. Today,
let peace provide the energy to co-create those things that
you desire. You do not need to ask peace to be with you in
partnership, just give peace your attention and you are in
partnership. The consciousness of peace propels your
actions. Peace is with you. I encourage you to find a way
to accept that others choose to partner with non-peace or
another interpretation of peace.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
So, what is it you desire to manifest today? A report? A
shift in a relationship? New clients or customers?
Innovative products? A clean house? Your manifestation may
be big or small, mundane or profound, simple or complex,
quiet or noisy. The proof of manifestation is not so much
the focus of today's affirmation as the process of
manifesting with peace. You may find it helpful to write a
Target to focus the energy of peace to assist you in
manifesting what you desire.

I have learned

1. I have learned -
That sometimes the people
you expect to kick you
when you are down
will be the ones to
help you get back up.

2. I have learned -
That just because someone
does not love you the way
you want them to
does not mean
they don't love you
with all they have.

3. I have learned -
That maturity has more to
do with the experiences you have
had and what you have learned
from them and less to do with
how many birthdays you have
celebrated.

4. I have learned -
That no matter how good a friend is,
He or she is going to hurt you every
once in a while and you must
forgive him or her for that.

5. I have learned -
That it isn't always enough
to be forgiven by others.
You have to learn to forgive
yourself.

6. I have learned -
That no matter how badly
your heart is broken the
world doesn't stop for your grief.

7. I have learned -
That background and circumstances
May have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who
we become.

I claim my peace, my power. Peace is my power.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
The word "power" has a negative punch for many folks. In
hockey and business, a common expression is "power play."
Terms like "political power" or "power politics" are usualy
said with disdain or envy. The "power of money" usually
means that those who have money make the decisions or have
influence over those who do not have money. Considering
"peace as power" creates a different picture. To claim
peace, you must be peaceful. You must be what you seek,
walk your talk, embody what you desire. Peace is powerful;
conflict can also be powerful. You may find that this is
the perfect time to let go of the fascination with war and
distortions as you move to claim peace in your own life.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
What images/feelings/thoughts come to you as you read
today's affirmation or as you see the word "power"? The
more you can come to peace with the idea of power, the more
you can step into your own power. True power comes from
inside you, not from a title or office or game or status
symbol. The power of peace is unlimited. What is the power
of peace for you? How does the power of peace manifest in
your life?
ABOUT TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE
I invite you to submit one or more TARGETS FOR PEACE AND
LOVE. Please include the target (stated succinctly) and a
high intention. Below is one that has been submitted by a
Dailyaffirm subscriber. Review the Targets at the Marshall
House Web Site, http://www.mhmail.com/Targets.html and then
submit a target on any August message on the DailyAffirm
Blog, http://www.dailyaffirm.com
Target: Children of the world
Intention: We lovingly embrace the children of the world so
that they know peace in their lifetime, a world at peace
with itself, a world at peace, filled with light, love and
laughter.
YOU ALWAYS HAVE A CHANCE
You know what you are today
but not what you may be tomorrow.
Use your imagination and look at things as they can be.
You can do anything you wish to do,
have anything you wish to have,
and be anything you wish to be.
You don't know what you can really do until you try.
All you have to do is to act on your dreams.
You have the power within you to do things
you never dreamed possible.
You would amaze yourself
if you did all the things you're capable of doing.
This power becomes available to you
as soon as you change some of your beliefs.
Success begins in your mind.
"Dancing Queen"
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen
Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...
You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen
You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave them burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...
You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen
VISUALIZE THEN ACTUALIZE YOUR SUCCESS
Your mind is your mental workshop.
You can build anything you want in it.
Visualize what you want in your mind.
See it. Feel it. Taste it. Believe in it.
Make your mental blueprint and then begin to build.
First, think about what you want out of life.
The beginning always takes place in your imagination.
Then organize your thoughts into definitive plans.
Next, it's time to transform your thoughts into reality
by taking some positive action.
You can live your dreams.
Sonnet # LXVII.
Ah! wherefore with infection should he live,
And with his presence grace impiety,
That sin by him advantage should achieve
And lace itself with his society?
Why should false painting imitate his cheek
And steal dead seeing of his living hue?
Why should poor beauty indirectly seek
Roses of shadow, since his rose is true?
Why should he live, now Nature bankrupt is,
Beggar'd of blood to blush through lively veins?
For she hath no exchequer now but his,
And, proud of many, lives upon his gains.
O, him she stores, to show what wealth she had
In days long since, before these last so bad.
Make this a playful day!
I act with peace in my heart. I speak with peace on my lips.
I walk with peace in my feet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
This affirmation invites the Spirit of peace to touch you in
all parts of your being. Emotionally, let peace touch you
so that you act in heart-felt ways. Let your mental body be
filled with peace so that the words you draw from your
thoughts are inundated with the energy of peace. Let your
physical body be showered with the consciousness of peace,
right down to the bottoms of your feet, so that every step
you take is a step with peace, for peace, in peace, as
peace. Be filled to overflowing with peace.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
As you reflect on this affirmation, you may find that one
particular aspect of your being is more in need of the light
of peace. It is sometimes helpful to focus on one aspect at
a time: physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. Of
course, you are all one (not four isolated parts), but some-
times it is helpful to look at the parts to understand and
appreciate the whole more completely. You may find that you
resonate with only one of the three statements and choose to
work with that one. Or you may find that you repeat one
statement more frequently than the other two. Play with the
affirmation; make it work for you.

ABOUT TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE

Peace energizes my actions. I move on my path in peace.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Today, DailyAffirm shifts into the action-oriented
affirmations to encourage you to affirm that your actions
are propelled by the energy of peace. It is very popular
these days to use the word "path" when talking about a
spiritual journey in this life. While the word may be
commonly used, you perhaps have different perceptions of
your path than others have of their path. Sometimes it is
helpful to envision what the path looks or feels like
before you gas up your vehicle.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
When you see or imagine your "path" what do you see or
imagine? Is your path straight and fixed, such as train
tracks? Or is your path winding, such as a path in the
woods that meanders around trees and streams? Or is your
path rocky, such as a gravelly driveway? Or is your path
one which goes straight up to heaven on a ladder? Or is
your path cloudy in one moment, clear the next; swampy in
one moment, solid in the next; boring in one moment,
colorful in the next? What is your path? Are you moving on
it in peace or mostly peace or with peace in your heart?
ABOUT SPECIFIC TARGETS FROM DAILYAFFIRM SUBSCRIBERS
Make this a moving week plus!
Greetings on the 4th week of August with the theme of Peace.
During this fourth week we focus on Acting/Claiming
Affirmations, and the last days of the month we focus on
Integrating/Embodying Affirmations. Make this a moving week
plus!
Read DailyAfirm on the Internet, with links to resources.
You can also make comments at http://www.dailyaffirm.com
ABOUT ACTING/CLAIMING AFFIRMATIONS and PEACE
"Acting/Claiming" Affirmations are perhaps the most popular
and common in the personal growth movement. "I claim my
power" and "I'm getting better in each day in every way" are
examples of this type of affirmation. These certainly are
different from the affirmations you have been working with
over the last three weeks. I developed this five-part
process because I discovered in my empowerment consulting
practice that many people are not ready to believe that they
can claim their power or peace or love or mastery. Prepare
yourself for accepting your power.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
HOW do you claim peace? You may find it helpful to look at
specific situations when you have acted peacefully --
perhaps when circumstances might have suggested a
non-peaceful act. If you reflect on specific situations,
please be careful that you do not get hooked on the
situations -- just use them as a means to teach you about
yourself. Remember, the question is "HOW do you claim
peace?" Alternative ways of stating the question are:
"By what means do you claim peace?" Or, "What processes do
you use to claim peace?" When you are clear about the
processes or means or methods that you have already
experienced, you may find that you can more easily expand
your repertoire of methods as well as the frequency of your
claims of peace.
ABOUT THE AFFIRMATIONS
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week
to represent acting and claiming for peace it would be the
affirmation for August 28: "I act with purposeful awareness
of peace in every moment." To act with "purposeful
awareness" just once each day is a starting place. This
means that IN THE MOMENT of acting you are aware of peace,
not just thinking about peace before an event, not just
remembering about peace after the act, but being aware in
the moment of the act that you are in the consciousness of
peace. The more you are aware in isolated acts, the more
likely you can expand your awareness and make peace a
condition of your life.
Following are all seven affirmations. Select one to focus
on for the week or use a different affirmation each day or
some combination. You will receive each of these
affirmations on the appropriate days with additional
information and suggestions. Make your process work for
you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

August 22:
Peace energizes my actions. I move on my path in peace.

August 23:
I act with peace in my heart. I speak with peace on my
lips. I walk with peace in my feet.

August 24:
I claim my peace, my power. Peace is my power.

August 25:
I manifest all things in association with peace. Peace is
my partner.

August 26:
I draw a circle of peace. I give my peaceful energy to
places on the planet calling for harmony.

August 27:
I let every act be an act of peace. My peaceful
consciousness makes a difference to my world.

August 28:
I act with purposeful awareness of peace in every moment.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT INTEGRATING/EMBODYING AFFIRMATIONS and PEACE
The purpose of the integrating and embodying affirmations is
to give you time and space to let the energy of peace settle
and anchor itself more deeply into your energy field. During
this time you do not seek new information about peace;
instead, allow the information and feelings and experiences
of the month to find their rightful place in your physical,
emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Over the next three days, work with one, two, or all three
of these affirmations. Each one is deeply powerful. Also,
if you have been making notes about peace throughout this
month or working with the affirmations in meaningful ways,
take time to reflect on your processes and learnings.
Remember, Spirit is available to assist you in manifesting
peace in your world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

August 29:
I breathe in peace, I breathe out peace.

August 30:
Peace is a personal choice.

August 31:
Today is an opportunity for peace.

THE KEY TO MASTERY IS SIMPLICITY

Life is really simple,
but we insist on making it complicated.

You can increase your understanding of any subject
by progressing from the simple to the complex.
Divide any complex issue into simple parts,
and master each part and no project will be too difficult.

By understanding the simple,
you can understand the complex.
Solutions are all simple after you have arrived at them.
But they are simple only when you know what they are.

Nothing is more simple than greatness:
for to be simple is to be great.

THE NEGOTIATION P.R.O.F.I.L.E. (TM), part two

==============================================

"Power is what you think it is."

-Gary Karrass

Last week, I shared the first three steps of a negotiation
preparation model I created that is now used on at least 4
continents. (I'm not sure if it's reached Africa, Australia or
Antarctica!)

If you missed part one, you can read it online at:
http://www.geniuscatalyst.com/public/negpro.php

===========================
4. F = Frames of reference
===========================

My friend Paul McKenna is known throughout Britain and much of
Europe for his success in using hypnosis both in his stage show
and as the 'therapist to the stars'.

Early in his career, Paul was invited on to a chat show to
participate in a debate on 'the dangers of hypnosis'. When Paul
pointed out that he didn't consider hypnosis to be dangerous,
the show's researchers excitedly explained that that was exactly
why they wanted him to come on - to express his point of view.

Paul knew that whoever sets the frame for any debate or
negotiation invariably controls the outcome. Given that the
show was being framed as being about 'the dangers of hypnosis',
the best he could hope for was to show that hypnosis 'wasn't
that dangerous'. He agreed to participate in the debate only if
the frame was changed to 'The healing potential of hypnosis'.

In the same way as two different frames can completely change
the way you look at a picture or think about a debate, having a
variety of frames through which to view a negotiation can
completely change the way you approach it.

Here are some of the most common variables you can use to change
the frame:

*How much territory is actually being covered in this
negotiation? Is it just one product/idea/deal, or is it
multiples?

*Is it a one-off, short-term, long-term, or the first of many
individual ones?

*Is it about a detail of the deal (price, terms, etc.) or
whether or not there will be a deal?

*What other similar deals can you compare this one with? Which
deals might they want to compare it with?

*What's a good metaphor for this deal? Is it like buying a
house or like selling groceries? Is it like hiring a movie star
or developing an athlete? Is it like a game of chess, a boxing
match, or a dance?

===================
5. I - Information
===================

It is not unheard of for some Hollywood players to hire private
detectives, set up surveillance equipment in hotel suites or
even arrange the odd chance meeting with a beautiful woman or
handsome man in an attempt to pick up some 'secret' information
that will give them the edge in a negotiation.

While much of this is ethically dubious or even blatantly
illegal, the fact is that when it comes to most negotiations
information is king, and the more you know about the other
people's resources, references, entry and walk away points the
easier it will be for you to get what you want.

As well as doing your homework and due diligence, a fun and
useful way to pick up bits of extra information is to prepare
for the negotiation from the other side's point of view. Here's
how...

Imagine stepping into the other person's shoes and look at
things through their eyes. Ask yourself what really matters to
you as this person. What's your bottom line? What are you
hoping for? What do you think you'll get? What do you know
that the other person (you know, the one who looks and sound
remarkably like you) doesn't?

While in one sense you are 'making it all up', it is surprising
how often the information that comes to you in this simple
thought experiment turns out to be useful and sometimes even
spookily accurate!

=============
L = Leverage
=============

Your leverage in any deal comes primarily from who wants or
needs to do the deal more. If they can't get the funding
without you on board and you know it, you've got leverage over
them; if you're going to go bankrupt without this contract and
the other side knows it, they have leverage over you. (This is
why having accurate information about the other side's real
situation and position can be so useful.)

This is also where the art of the bluff can come into play.
Just because you do need the deal doesn't mean you need to tell
them that; just because they don't seem bothered doesn't mean
they aren't.

Ask yourself:

*What leverage (real or imagined) might you have over them? How
can you best use that to your advantage?

*What leverage (real or imagined) might they have over you? How
can you counter or at least lessen the impact of that
leverage?

============
E = Ecology
============

In nature, ecology is the study of the relationship between an
organism and its environment. In negotiation, it's the analysis
of how the way you negotiate and the results you produce impact
the bigger picture of your business, your relationships, and
your life.

Winning the deal but blowing the relationship might be OK in a
one-off transaction, but disaster in a long-term multi-item
deal. Losing the deal might mean not only a loss of potential
short-term reward but also a negative shift in how people
perceive you in the market place. And violating your own
personal values and ethics in pursuit of a result will probably
mess up your relationship with yourself, regardless of the
outcome of the negotiation.

Be sure to ask yourself (and where appropriate, others) about
the potential impact of as many scenarios and contingencies as
you can come up with.

--------------------
Today's Experiment:
--------------------

1. Make sure you've taken each of your three negotiations
through the first three steps and identified your purpose,
relationship, outcomes and options. (If you need to review part
one, go to http://www.geniuscatalyst.com/public/negpro.php)

2. Take at least one of them through each of the four steps
above in as much detail as feels appropriate.

Have fun, learn heaps, and go for what you really want!

With love,
michael

Sonnet # LXVI.

Tired with all these, for restful death I cry,
As, to behold desert a beggar born,
And needy nothing trimm'd in jollity,
And purest faith unhappily forsworn,
And guilded honour shamefully misplaced,
And maiden virtue rudely strumpeted,
And right perfection wrongfully disgraced,
And strength by limping sway disabled,
And art made tongue-tied by authority,
And folly doctor-like controlling skill,
And simple truth miscall'd simplicity,
And captive good attending captain ill:
Tired with all these, from these would I be gone,
Save that, to die, I leave my love alone.

Make this an expansive day!

Peace enhances and underpins all my thoughts and feelings.
Peace is worthy of my attention.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Peace is everywhere. In some places you must work harder to
uncover it than in other places, but it is everywhere. Your
mission, if you choose to accept it, is to affirm that peace
is worthy of your attention. The ideas and things to which
you give your attention expand. And expand. And expand.
You want to magnify and intensify those ideas and feelings
that you admire and prefer, so give those your attention.
Yes, of course, the negative stuff also exists, but do not
keep bringing the negative into the foreground. The
negative belongs in the background to enhance the images in
the foreground.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
To what do you give your attention? Surely if you are
working with these affirmations each day, you are giving
your attention to peace. At least for a while. And when
the words of the affirmation fade into the activities of the
day, to what do you give your attention? Here is a simple
exercise that you can play with. Did you take any
photographs on your most recent holiday / vacation /
celebration? If so, look at those. Look first at the film
(the negatives) then the prints (the positives). Which is
more pleasant? Which is more intriguing? Which is more
discernible? Can you turn your attention from fascination
with the distortions to focus on the positive? Today, to
what do you give your attention?
BEING SUCCESSFUL IS A CHOICE YOU MAKE
Your success isn't a matter of luck,
it's simply a matter of the choices you make.
Success isn't something you can wait for,
it's something you'll achieve with effort over time.
Things won't turn up in this world until you turn them up.
You can choose to be lazy or ambitious.
Stop and think about your choice again.
You always do your own choosing.
The great opportunity in your life is where you are right now.
Every situation, properly perceived, is an opportunity for you.
First, say to yourself what you would be,
then do what you have to do to make things happen.
Success is right in front of you.
A Love story
love
Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings
lived, Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge and all the others, including Love.
One day it was announced to all of the feelings that the island was going
to sink to the bottom of the ocean. So, all the feelings prepared their
boats to leave.
Love was the only one that stayed. She wanted to preserve
the island paradise until the very last possible moment. When the island
was almost totally under water, Love decided it was time to leave. She
began looking for someone to ask for help. Just then Richness was passing
by in a grand boat.
Love asked, "Richness, can I come with you on your
boat?" Richness answered, "I am sorry, but there is a lot of silver and
gold on my boat and there would be no room for you anywhere"
Then Love decided to ask Vanity, who was passing in a beautiful vessel, for help.
Love cried out "Vanity, help me please!", "I can't help you, " Vanity
said, "You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat."
Next Love saw Sadness passing by. Love said, "Sadness please let me go with you."
Sadness answered, "Love, I'm sorry, but, I just need to be alone now."
Then, Love saw Happiness and cried out, "Happiness, please take me with
you." But Happiness was so overjoyed that he didn't hear Love calling
him.
Love began to cry, then, she heard a voice say, "Come love I will
take you with me". It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed
that she forgot to ask the elder his name.
When they arrived on land the elder went on his way. Love realized how much she owed the elder and when she met Knowledge she asked who it was that had helped her.
"It was Time", Knowledge answered. "But why did Time help me when no one else
would?", Love asked.
Knowledge smiled and with deep wisdom and sincerity,
answered,
"Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love
is."
Topic of the Week - Protect Your Relationships
"All things pass . . . Patience attains all it strives for."
--St. Theresa of Avila
There are times in life when a good dose of restraint goes a long way in
saving relationships -- both with yourself and others. Last week I had a
conversation with a friend who received an email that made her angry.
Fortunately, she had the good sense to call me before firing back a
response. As we talked about the situation (a colleague had seemingly
taken credit for her idea), I suggested that restraint might be a wise
choice in handling the situation. Before she confronted this colleague
with an accusation of betrayal, she needed to step back, regain her
composure, and think clearly about how best to respond.
We've all had similar experiences -- your boss says something stupid to
you in front of co-workers and you get so angry that you storm out of the
room. Or you find yourself in the middle of the same old argument with
your son or daughter and you hear yourself saying foolish things that you
know you'll later regret. These are the times when restraint can be a
valuable tool -- one that saves energy and a whole lot of hurt feelings.
Every day we're faced with situations that would benefit from a little
restraint. You simply need to notice the clues. For example, you'll know
that restraint is a wise choice when:
~*~ You can't think clearly.
~*~ You feel like screaming.
~*~ Your emotional reaction feels bigger than what the current situation
warrants.
~*~ It feels like powerful energy (read: anxiety) is coursing through your
veins and you feel compelled to react.
~*~ You feel angry and know there's a good chance you'll say something
mean or stupid that you'll regret later on.
We all get our buttons pushed. It's just a part of life. But the growth
lies in our ability to make better choices. Here are a few things you can
do to insure that you take good care of yourself and others:
1. Close your eyes and breathe. When you're caught off guard, your
body's fight or flight system gets activated and it's as though all
systems suddenly go on red alert. This means you're now operating in
survivor mode -- not conducive to making wise, thoughtful choices. By
closing your eyes and taking several slow, deep breaths, you'll
immediately cause your brain to begin making alpha waves, the kind of
brain wave patterns that gently calm you down.
2. Find a safe person to vent to about the situation. "Safe" is the
operative word here. Be sure to choose someone who can listen well so
you're able to process your feelings. Don't choose someone who simply
fuels the drama by egging you on with their opinions of how you've been
wronged.
3. Get more information. Before you confront the other person with your
assumptions, ask questions. For example, if an email pushed your buttons,
ask the sender what he or she intended to communicate. By now most of us
know that we miss the nuances and tone of a person's message when we
communicate via email. Make sure you have the facts before accusing
someone of a damaging act. When my friend who was angry with her
colleague for taking her idea, calmed down and inquired about what
happened, she discovered that, in fact, her idea hadn't been taken at all.
Her name had mistakenly been left out of a document.
4. Have a sane conversation with the person involved. Be sure to speak
from the "I" position and simply let him or her know how you feel and what
you need. If the connection is important, you might even start your
exchange by acknowledging the value of your relationship first.
The next time you find yourself in overreaction mode, practice restraint.
By choosing to step back and put some space between you and an immediate
response, you not only protect your relationships, you preserve your
self-respect.
~*~ Take Action Challenge ~*~
This week, catch yourself before you overreact or impulsively respond to
something that pushes your buttons. Instead, step back, take a deep
breath and consider using one of the steps above. For example, if you
find yourself in an argument with a spouse or partner, ask for a time out
to regroup and calm down. If a co-worker does something that makes you
angry, don't get caught up in any drama. Instead, find someone reasonable
to discuss the situation with before you respond. Be wise. Honor
yourself and your relationships by using a little restraint.
I understand the meaning of peace. I let peace express
itself through me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
One of the ways to understand something deeply is to merge
with it, to become one with it, to become it. Such a process
can feel a little scary when you want to understand certain
things or people. Even peace. For, in order to become one
with peace, you must turn your attention away from un-peace
and non-peace and anti-peace and war and anti-war, and turn
it to peaceful thoughts. The more you give your attention
to what you want, the more easily you can attract more of
the same. Let the consciousness of peace be with you, flow
through you, and stand in, around, and under your energy
field.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Consider what it means in your own life for peace to express
itself through you. At first, this might seem like a
strange idea. How can peace have the consciousness to
express itself? If it helps you to personify peace in order
to understand this affirmation, change the third person
singular impersonal pronoun (it) to second person (you) or
third person singular (she/her or he/him). Here is one
variation of today's affirmation personifying peace: "I
understand your meaning, Peace. I let you express yourself
through me." The purpose of this affirmation is to let you
be a place for the consciousness of peace to live.

The Mountain Story

A son and his father were walking on the mountains.
Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain:
"AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"
He receives the answer: "Who are you?"
Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"
He receives the answer: "Coward!"
He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"
The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention."
And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"
The voice answers: "I admire you!"
Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"
The voice answers: "You are a champion!"
The boy is surprised, but does not understand.
Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is
LIFE.
It gives you bac k everything you say or do.
Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.
If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.
If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.
This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life;
Life will give you back everything you have given to it."
YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!

Installing Love

Customer Service: Can you install Love?

Customer: I can do that. I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready to
install now. What do I do first?

Service: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your
Heart?

Customer: Yes, I have, but there are several programs running right now.
Is it okay to install while they are running?

Service: What programs are running?

Customer: Let me see... I have Pasthurt.exe, Lowesteem.exe, Grudge.exe
and
Resentment.com running right now.

Service: No problem. Love will automatically erase Pasthurt.exe from your
current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it
will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually overwrite
Lowesteem.exe whit a module of its own, called Highesteem.exe. However,
you have to completely turn off Grudge.exe and Resentment.com. Those
programs prevent Love from being properly installed.
Can you turn those off ?

Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Service: My pleasure. Go to your Start menu and invoke Forgiveness.exe.
Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge.exe and Resentment.com
have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, I'm done. Love has started installing itself
automatically. Is that normal?

Service: Yes it is. You should receive a message that says it will
reinstall for the life of your Heart. Do you see that message?

Customer: Yes I do. Is it completely installed?

Service: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need
to begin connecting to other Hearts to get the upgrades.

Customer: It says "Error 412 - Program not run on internal components."
What does that mean?

Service: Don't worry, that's a common problem. It means that the Love
program is set up to run on external Hearts but has not yet been running
on your Heart. It is one o f those complicated programming things, but in
non-technical terms it means that you have to "love" your own machine
before it can "love" others.

Customer: So what should I do?

Service: Can you find the directory called "Self-acceptance"?

Customer: Yes, I have it.

Service: Excellent, you are getting good at this.

Customer: Thank you.

Service: You're welcome. Click on the following files and then copy them
to the "Myheart" directory: Forgiveself.doc, Selfesteem.txt,
Realizeworth.txt and Goodness.doc. The system will overwrite conflicting
files and begin patching any faulty programming. Also, you need to delete
"Selfcriticize.exe" from all directories, and then empty your recycle bin
afterwards to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it! Wow! My Heart is filling up with really neat files.
Smile.mpg is playing on my monitor right now, a nd it shows that
Warmth.com, Peace.exe and Contentment.com are copying themselves all over
my Heart!

Service: Then Love is installed and running. You should be able to handle
it from here. One more thing before I go...

Customer: Yes?

Service: Love is freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to
everybody you are meeting. They will in turn share it with other people,
and they will return some really neat modules back to you.

Customer: I will. Thank you for your help.

Service: You're very welcome.

Open to the moment

“Why not concentrate on the now instead of hoping for better times in the future? Why not understand the now instead of forgetting it and hoping for the future? Isn’t the future just another trap?”

-- Anthony de Mello

Soul exists only in this moment. Every moment, no matter what the conditions, offers opportunities to touch and experience life in a new way. Our egos, with their fears and desires, easily get trapped in the past and the future, but the power to change exists only in this moment.

We don’t need to know more or have more before we can live more deeply. We simply need to pay attention to what’s happening now. To open without judgment to the worlds around and within us.

“Nothing is worth more than this day. You cannot relive yesterday. Tomorrow is still beyond your reach.”

-- Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

I remember peace. I remember who I Am. I Am Peace.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
The peace to call to your memory today is a peace more
profound than the absence of war; it is the peace that
passes human understanding. It is the peace that reminds
you that all is well, tells you that you are safe. It is
the peace on earth that manifests in the lives of
individuals. It is not a fantasy, not an illusion, but real
peace. This peace manifests with the power of the I Am
presence flowing consciously thorough you saying, "I Am
Peace" and then continues to choose peace. You must choose
to live in peace. And choose again. And again.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Remember your role or part in manifesting peace, which is
significant. You need not feel responsible beyond your own
piece of the planet, your own world. Just show up 100% in
each moment of today in your piece of the world with your
peace in your heart, and you have done your part. Remember
(and re-member) God's whisper to your soul. Remember that
whatever follows "I am" is magnified, multiplied, and
enhanced. Make the words that follow "I am" worthy of
expansion.
You can choose.
You alone steer the course you choose
in the direction of where you want to be today,
tomorrow or in any distant time to come.
You hold the tiller.
You can decide to alter the course of your life at any time.
No one can ever take that away from you.
You can decide what you want and go after it.
It's always your next move.
Diving Through the Waves of Life
I'm standing waist deep in the water watching this giant Hawaiian
wave coming right towards me. I feel a small panic inside as my mind
screams, "turn around and run!" The problem is that I know that if I
listen to my terrified mind I won't make it to the shore and will be
crushed by the wave. The only thing I can do is dive into and through
the wave. If I can conquer my fear I will reach the other side! So I
take a deep breath, relax and dive into it! I barely notice the wave
breaking over head. It was easy, smooth and even fun! The wave
crashes behind me on the shore and I am safe again. I think to
myself, "That wasn't so bad." Oh, no! I see another wave coming
towards me. Again, all my mind says is RUN!!
Yes, the truth is that I have had a tremendous fear of these ocean
waves...even relatively small ones. However, my last few experiences
in Hawaii have taught me that the only way to easily survive a wave
is to face the wave and dive right through it. One day as I stood in
the ocean, I realized that life is like a giant ocean. There is an
ebb and a flow to all things. Like the ocean, every day waves come
rolling into and through our lives. Sometimes the waves are big and
crushing, while other times they are so small that they are barely
noticeable.
When a big wave in life comes your way, the best thing to do is to
face it. Even though all of your instincts may say to avoid it and
run away, facing it is safer and more enjoyable. Have you ever been
in the ocean and tried to out swim a 20 foot wave? It is impossible
to do so! If you try to out run it, it simply sucks you in, spins you
upside-down and smashes you into the ocean floor within a few
seconds. However, if you turn directly towards the wave and dive
underneath it (right when it’s about to break) you will easily
pass through. Even if it is the biggest wave you've ever seen in your
life, you can emerge on the other side unscathed and even have a
smile on your face.
Life contains many waves of thoughts and feelings that are much like
the ocean waves. If you try to avoid or "outrun" a problem that is
going on inside you by turning your back on it, it will eventually
catch up with you and wreck havoc. In fact, the problem or challenge
can seem soooo big that it may hypnotize you with fear by just
staring into it. As soon as this big wave arrives it is spinning your
life upside-down and drowning you in its energy. However, if you face
the wave that is coming your way, no matter how big it is, you can
handle the challenge much easier by diving into it and through it.
What would a big wave in your life look like? Perhaps it’s
waves of thoughts and feelings about money, relationships,
confidence, career, love, sex, or emotional stability? Whatever the
wave is doesn't matter, what matters most is how you approach it.
I've found that to dive through the most challenging waves in my life
are much much easier when you feel connected to your Infinite Nature.
This means that instead of getting all caught up in the perceived
issue or problem, you remain centered at your core and connected to
your divinely confident peaceful Infinite Nature. In this state, you
are able dive right through ANY perceived issue without your ego
becoming trapped it.
Through learning how to connect with your Infinite Nature you uncover
an unstoppable fearless confidence inside. This is exactly what pulls
you through ANY major wave that life presents to you. Once you find
this feeling of fearlessness at your core it is easy and FUN to play
in life's ocean. The key to revealing this fearlessness is to
discover that you are an infinite being that will never die. This
will dramatically increase your consciousness and vibration so that
you can remain centered and peaceful throughout your day. With a
deeper level of inner peace you can remain clear and confident when
those crazy panicky thought waves get out of control. When you
discover this divine fearlessness inside, you will master ANY
perceived problem because you know that your mind is actually
creating these illusionary waves. Knowing how to find your divinely
confident peaceful Infinite Nature, you can truly start enjoying this
big wild wondrous ocean called life.
Save Me From Myself
rosepetals on floor
It's not so easy loving me
It gets so complicated
All the things you gotta be
Everything's changing
But you're the truth
I'm amazed by all your patience
Everything I put you through
And when I'm about to fall
Somehow you're always waiting
Your open arms to catch me
You're gonna save me from myself
From myself, yes
You're gonna save me from myself
My love is tainted by your touch
Well some guys have shown me aces
But you've got that royal flush
I know it's crazy everyday
Well tomorrow maybe shaky
But you never turn away
Don't ask me why I'm crying
'Cause when I start to crumble
You know how to keep me smiling
You always save me from myself
From myself, myself
You're gonna save me from myself
I know it's hard, it's hard
But you've broken all my walls
You've been my strength, so strong
And don't ask me why I love you
It's obvious your tenderness
Is what I need to make me
A better woman to myself
To myself, myself
You're gonna save me from myself
Sonnet # LXV.
Since brass, nor stone, nor earth, nor boundless sea,
But sad mortality o'er-sways their power,
How with this rage shall beauty hold a plea,
Whose action is no stronger than a flower?
O, how shall summer's honey breath hold out
Against the wreckful siege of battering days,
When rocks impregnable are not so stout,
Nor gates of steel so strong, but Time decays?
O fearful meditation! where, alack,
Shall Time's best jewel from Time's chest lie hid?
Or what strong hand can hold his swift foot back?
Or who his spoil of beauty can forbid?
O, none, unless this miracle have might,
That in black ink my love may still shine bright.
Make this a living day!
My mission is to live peacefully in my world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Your life mission is your reason for being. From the
consciousness of your being, you speak and think and do.
This is a good day to affirm your higher purpose, even (or
perhaps that is especially) when you feel weak or lost or
stuck. While I do not encourage you to use your humanness
as an excuse for inept actions, you do want to be gentle
with that part of yourself that is human. And it is that
human part of you that must acknowledge Spirit, wholeness,
and oneness. Your world includes everyone and anyplace and
every place that has your attention. If you tend to define
your world to be too big for the focus of your attention,
consider defining your world closer to home to make the idea
of finding peace more attainable and pleasurable.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
It is helpful for you to notice if the affirming of this
statement elicits guilt or disdain or cynicism or other
reactions in you. If so, your work is first on the guilt or
disdain or cynicism (or whatever) so that you can return to
the truth of the affirmation. A way to work with this is to
say or think or feel these words as each aspect of your
world attracts your attention, for example, a trip to the
supermarket, feelings about an interaction with someone
yesterday, newspaper articles, your computer, thoughts about
tomorrow. Notice opposing reactions, if any, to the
affirmation when applied to each stimulus. Reduce your
opposing reactions (resistance), if any, by simply breathing
them away or by developing another affirmation that
addresses the reaction. Then return to today's affirmation.
Then move to the next stimulus. This approach will expand
your world while also making it more peaceful.

We experience what we believe

"You are free to believe what you choose and what you do attests to what you believe."

-- A Course of Miracles

You most likely believe that your experiences have taught you what is real and what is true – at least for you. However, what you may not know is that your beliefs – conscious and unconscious – have determined what you would experience.

Experiences do not determine what you believe. What you first of all believe is what you will experience. It follows, then, that if you wish to experience life in new ways, you need to examine your belief systems.

Change your consciousness and you’ll change your life.

Hurt...

sadness

Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face
You told me how proud you were, but I walked away
If only I knew what I know today
Ooh, ooh

I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all your mistakes
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To hear your voice again
Sometimes I wanna call you
But I know you won't be there

Ohh I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you

Some days I feel broke inside but I won't admit
Sometimes I just wanna hide 'cause it's you I miss
And it's so hard to say goodbye
When it comes to this, oooh

Would you tell me I was wrong?
Would you help me understand?
Are you looking down upon me?
Are you proud of who I am?

There's nothing I wouldn't do
To have just one more chance
To look into your eyes
And see you looking back

Ohh I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself, ohh

If I had just one more day
I would tell you how much that I've missed you
Since you've been away
Ooh, it's dangerous
It's so out of line
To try and turn back time

I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
This affirmation always feels like a palindrome to me,
although technically it is not. That feeling, though, sent
me to two dictionaries and a thesaurus (although the word is
not in my version of the latter). The first definition of
"palindrome" I was familiar with: "1. A word, phrase, verse,
or sentence that reads the same backward or forward."
However, I realized when reading the second definition that
the purpose of the nudge from my intution to search linguistic
authority was to find this: "2. A segment of double-stranded
DNA in which the nucleotide sequence of one strand reads in
reverse order to that of the complementary strand." Aha!
The consciousness of this affirmation supports the
integration of a new DNA. I recognize that it is still part
of the generally-accepted reality to believe that our DNA
never changes; however, I see changes of the DNA reflected
in the energy field of clients I work with individually.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
First of all, let me remind you that I have no need for you
to agree with anything that I say in these messages. Take
from them what is meaningful to you, and leave or put aside
the rest. Let this process be a gentle one, not one of
criticism or ridicule. It is a powerful practice to leave
what you do not want for someone else who chooses it.
Consider what gives meaning to your life with respect to
peace. Perhaps peace of mind, just a little piece of peace,
inner peace, peace-fullness, world peace, peace in the
family or neighborhood, the peace that passes human under-
standing, peace among nations. Peace. Just peace.
What wants to change?
"The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem."
-- Theodore Rubin
Our lives really begin to change when we learn to shift our perspective on ‘problems.’
From the spiritual perspective, problems offer our best path to growth. Like it or not, pain gets our attention. Pain also challenges the ego's perception that it is in complete control of life. This opens the door for soul’s guidance.
If we want to be rid of the pain, we must do the work that leads us to greater consciousness. Paradoxically, we can only get rid of the pain by moving through it.
The next time you feel “poor me,” stop and ask, “What needs to change? What does my soul want me to learn?”
“No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”
YOU CANNOT FAIL WITH A PLAN
Wanting success isn't sufficient enough to get it.
You have to ask yourself,
"What am I going to do to get the things I want?"
Your problem is how to bridge the gap which exists
between where you are now and the goal you intend to reach.
You cannot fail with a definite step by step plan,
because each step carries you along to the next step, like a track.
All you need is the plan, the road map,
and the courage to press on to your destination.
You cannot get lost on a straight road.
A Heart Of Gold
One day, a young man stopped in a big city and started telling people that he had the most beautiful heart around there. After a short while, people gathered around him, admiring that perfect heart.
Suddenly, an old man approached the crowd.
He said calmly:
"Still, the perfectness of his heart doesn't compare to the beauty of mine".
The people turned to look, even the young man did; it was a strong heart, beating hard.
But it was all marked my scars, places where pieces of it were replaced by others, which didn't match perfectly, and places where there were missing pieces, which had left bleeding wounds.
"How can he say his heart is more beautiful",
wondered the people. The young man told the old man, laughing:
"U must be kidding. My heart is perfect, but yours is a big wound, only tears and pain!"
The old man replied:
"Yes, yours looks perfect, but i'd never change it with mine.
U see…every scaro n my heart represents a person to whom i gave my love.
I take a piece of my heart and give it to the one beside me, who usually gives me back a piece of his/hers. But they're not measured so sometimes they don't quite match,
but I love all those imperfections, because they remind me of the love i shared.
Sometimes I gave pieces of my heart to people who gave me nothing in return;
those are the bleeding wounds, the holes - sometimes, love is risky.
And even if those wounds bleed and hurt, they remind me of the love I have even for those people;
who knows? Maybe one day they'll come back to me to fill the emptiness with pieces of their hearts.
U see now what's the real beauty of the heart?"
The young man remained quiet, with tears in his eyes.
He approached the old man, took a piece of his heart and gave it to the old man, with shivering hands.
The old man took it, put it into his heart. Then took a piece of his and gave it to the young man.
It wasn't a perfect match, but it was ok. The young man looked at his heart, which was no longer perfect, but was more beautiful than ever, because now it was alive, it had the pulse and love of the old man's heart. They hugged and left…
How sad it is to walk on your life with a perfect heart! Perfect but with no beauty!
You Are Where You Are
joy
What you have been thinking and what you currently are thinking has resulted in your creation, in your life experience, of what is. And so, that is that!
However, we want you to turn your full attention to the vibrational relativity between where you are right now, and where you want to be - for that is where your power is.
That is where the thrill of creative genious lies.
from The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent: Living the Art of Allowing
Sonnet # LXIV.
When I have seen by Time's fell hand defaced
The rich proud cost of outworn buried age;
When sometime lofty towers I see down-razed
And brass eternal slave to mortal rage;
When I have seen the hungry ocean gain
Advantage on the kingdom of the shore,
And the firm soil win of the watery main,
Increasing store with loss and loss with store;
When I have seen such interchange of state,
Or state itself confounded to decay;
Ruin hath taught me thus to ruminate,
That Time will come and take my love away.
This thought is as a death, which cannot choose
But weep to have that which it fears to lose.
Accepting reality
“...self-contempt never inspires lasting change.”
-- Jane R. Hirschmann and Carol H. Munter
I can suck myself down into a deep, black hole when I focus on what I think I SHOULD be… more loving, sexy, productive, whatever. Thinking I should be something else means I’m not good enough now. This is poverty thinking and a guaranteed way to be miserable.
I can let go of this suffering by accepting WHAT IS. I can say, “This is how I am right now and that’s okay.”
When I first tried this, I could say it but not believe it. Then I began to experience the freedom this perspective brings – just by changing my mind! Now I’m beginning to believe it. What a gift!
“When we stop opposing reality, action becomes simple, fluid, kind, and fearless.”
I deepen my awareness of the consciousness of peace, from
which my joyous actions spring.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
You might have different ideas from others about what the
"consciousness of peace" is and different experiences of how
it manifests in your life. I, of course, define it in terms
of energy because my professional work is about energy and
energetics and helping people to transform at the deepest
part of the energy field. You cannot simply say you are at
peace and be at peace, but finding words of peace is an
admirable starting place. While using the proper language
does not manifest your heart's desires, it directs your
focus so that you can be more clear about your life's
fulfillment.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
What does your energy field say about your relationship to
peace? How deeply are you able to dip into the consciousness
of peace? How aware are you of the non-peace (if any) which
leaks from your energy field, even when you purport to be
peaceful? This is not a condemnation; this is an exercise
in awareness. If you are looking for visual clues, you are
looking in the wrong place. If you are looking for agreement
or disagreement from another person, you are looking in the
wrong direction. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and
look within. What is the consciousness/energy of peace into
which you dip today in order to speak and think and act?

YOU ONLY GET TO KEEP WHAT YOU GIVE AWAY

It's a universal law: You have to give before you get.
You must plant your seeds before you reap the harvest.
The more you sow, the more you will reap.
In giving to others, you will find yourself blessed.

The law works to give you back more than you have sown.
The giver's harvest is always full.

Those who scatter have much.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know that peace leads to the highest good for all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
This is the first day in the third week when DailyAffirm
shifts the type of affirmations from Accepting/Receiving to
Being/Intending. Notice that the second word in today's
affirmation is "know" not "think" or "feel" or "ask" or
"believe" or "hope." This is a spiritual knowing that opens
your consciousness, not an arrogant or pedantic knowing that
narrows your focus or offends the less intellectual or
insults others on different paths. You "know" in your heart
and your head. Sometimes you "know" with every fiber of
your being. Peace is a path that leads to the highest good
for all.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
With today's affirmation in mind, revisit your over-arching
intention for peace. Then consider the following questions.
How do you define the difference between knowing and
thinking? What does that difference mean to you? How do
you experience each of the following: (1) knowing with your
head, (2) knowing with your heart, and (3) knowing with both
your head and heart at the same time? Can you discern the
differences between (1) and (2) without judging that one is
better than the other?

ABOUT TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE
Do you have a target that is calling for peace or love or
light? Visit the Marshall House Web site and read the
information on the Targets page. Please use previous targets
to inspire you to write a target for something or someone you
identify as desiring or needing light, love, and peace.
Note there are two steps: (1) Clearly and succinctly
identify the Target, then (2) Make a statement that reflects
your own intention/purpose so that you can envision an
empowering image. For example, a Target for someone who has
an illness would not mention the illness, but health,
because it is health you want to magnetize. What you give
your attention to, expands. And here are two model Targets.

TARGET: All creatures great and small
INTENTION: We embrace all creatures great and small. We
lift the hearts and minds of all people with the awareness
of, sensitivity to and compassion for the feelings of all
the animals of the earth.

TARGET: People undergoing transformation and change
INTENTION: We surround all changes we experience with the
energy of peace and love, so that we can all more easily
say, "I trust the Universe. I am safe."

ABOUT BEING/INTENDING AFFIRMATIONS and PEACE
DailyAffirm works this week with affirmations that support
you in further knowing who you are and what you intend
(being and intending) with respect to Peace. To accept
peace into your life is different from being at peace.
Honor where you are in consciousness. Rejoice that you can
choose both: to accept peace and to be peace.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
As you work with one or more affirmations this week, you may
find it helpful to remind yourself frequently of the over-
arching intention that you set for peace. Each time you dip
into the energy and consciousness of yourintention, you are
likely to have a deeper awareness of the meaning of your
intention as well as clear indications that you are
manifesting with the energy of your intention and not with
the energy of something else.

ABOUT THE AFFIRMATIONS
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week
to represent being and intending for Peace it would be
"Peace enhances and underpins all my thoughts and feelings.
Peace is worthy of my attention." This is the affirmation
for August 21. Hidden among the words of this affirmation
is the recognition that at any given moment an action or
idea or thought may appear to be unpeaceful or disharmonious,
yet peace is present. This affirmation helps you to release
the false belief that life is a snapshot that tells the
whole story; it supports you in experiencing life more like
the operator of a video tape machine with continuous play
at many layers and levels.

Following are all seven affirmations. Select one to focus
on for the week or use a different affirmation each day or
some combination. You will receive each of these
affirmations on the appropriate days with additional
information and suggestions. Make your process work for
you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
August 15:
I know that peace leads to the highest good for all.
August 16:
I deepen my awareness of the consciousness of peace, from
which my joyous actions spring.
August 17:
High intention operates in the midst of peace. Peace
operates in the midst of high intention.
August 18:
My mission is to live peacefully in my world.
August 19:
I remember peace. I remember who I Am. I Am Peace.
August 20:
I understand the meaning of peace. I let peace express
itself through me.
August 21:
Peace enhances and underpins all my thoughts and feelings.
Peace is worthy of my attention.
A MOUNTAIN IS CLIMBED ONE STEP AT A TIME
To attain success or to reach your goal,
don't worry about having all the answers in advance.
You just need to have a clear idea of your goal and move toward it.
Using Shortcuts to Make Time for Your Life
"Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds.
Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they
will become the brightest gems in a useful life."
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
~*~ Topic of the Week - Using Shortcuts to Make Time for Your Life ~*~
As I take some time off to enjoy the summer weather here in the Northeast,
I often rerun some of the most popular newsletters. This week's broadcast
is about using shortcuts to enjoy more of your life. I hope you find one
or two ideas that will make a difference! Here goes . . .
Teaching yourself to look for and use shortcuts is a way to perform
everyday tasks more quickly and efficiently, allowing yourself more time
for your priorities. Like developing a "when in doubt, throw it out"
mentality that keeps clutter at bay, training yourself to use short cuts
can make a big difference in the quality of your life.
This week I asked a few friends about the ways in which they save time
(and money) so I could share them with you. Here are 10 examples:
1. Buy in bulk. The next time you go shopping for household items (toilet
paper, paper towels, etc.), purchase them in bulk. By doing so, you'll
avoid making multiple trips to the store throughout the year. Since many
warehouse stores offer great prices for bulk purchases, you'll not only
save time, you'll save money too.
2. Call all your creditors and have the due dates on your monthly bills
synchronized to the same date. By aligning the payment dates of your
bills, you'll be able to pay them all at once (this helps to insure that
they're paid on time too).
3. When cooking meals, double the serving and freeze the other half for
future meals when you'd rather relax than cook.
4. Use a pick-up and delivery service. You might be surprised to discover
that your dry cleaner, local restaurant, or copy shop offers this service.
Just ask . . .
5. Order your household goods or office supplies online. I recently needed
supplies for a workshop at the last minute and when I ordered them from
Staples.com, I not only received the supplies the next day (for free!), I
saved 10% as well.
6. Keep an on-going list of books, movies, or music recommendations on
your computer so that you can easily recall them when shopping. After all,
how often have you spent way too much time looking for a good movie at the
video store? A book list may also give you an incentive to visit the
library -- this will allow you to save money by borrowing the books you
really don't need to purchase.
7. Learn new shortcut features on your computer. It's amazing how much
time you can save by taking a few simple steps. For example, did you know
that using "control A" will highlight all of the text on your screen so
you can copy, move or delete it all at once? Or using "control Z" will
undo any previous keystrokes, making it easy to recover a great thought
that you mistakenly deleted? Check your computer's help or tutorial file
for common keyboard shortcuts.
8. Schedule automatic tasks on your computer so you'll remember to perform
the most important ones (like backing up your hard drive or scanning for
viruses). Take a look at the help index on these programs for set-up
instructions -- it takes about two minutes!
9. Set up a carpool with neighbors to take kids to and from after-school
activities. I know that this may sound obvious, but many moms tough it out
alone, too busy (or afraid) to ask for help. If you hate playing
chauffeur, challenge yourself to make a few calls.
10. Set up short cuts on your desktop so you can quickly get to important
documents that you use on a regular basis. For example, I keep a "to-do"
list on my Palm. When I go to my computer, I have an icon called "to-do"
on my desktop that I can click on to take me right to the document. If
you're a PC user, right click on your desktop, click "new," click
"shortcut," and follow the instructions.
Enjoy!
~*~ Take Action Challenge ~*~
Choose one of the above steps and implement it this week. Once you
experience the benefit (reduced stress levels and extra time), you'll
start looking for and using time savers on a more regular basis. Have fun
:)
Focus on what you want
“A good intention clothes itself with power.”
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Our minds are incredibly powerful. We put that power to work for us when we consciously set an intention to be or do something. Get into the practice of consciously setting an intention for every activity in which you are involved.
Your intention might support efficiency – for example, to complete a job or project by a specific time. Your intention might support your personal growth, e.g., to undertake a task that scares you. Or it might support more soul connection, e.g., to see beauty in the chaos of your day.
When we make an effort to set an intention, no matter how trivial it may appear, we are taking the time to choose what we want for ourselves. And clearly, this is essential for our growth – to actively, thoughtfully choose what we want for ourselves.
“By becoming a conscious choice-maker, you begin to generate actions that are evolutionary for you.”
-- Deepak Chopra
Sonnet # LXIII.
Against my love shall be, as I am now,
With Time's injurious hand crush'd and o'er-worn;
When hours have drain'd his blood and fill'd his brow
With lines and wrinkles; when his youthful morn
Hath travell'd on to age's steepy night,
And all those beauties whereof now he's king
Are vanishing or vanish'd out of sight,
Stealing away the treasure of his spring;
For such a time do I now fortify
Against confounding age's cruel knife,
That he shall never cut from memory
My sweet love's beauty, though my lover's life:
His beauty shall in these black lines be seen,
And they shall live, and he in them still green.
Make this an enthusiastic day!
I am ready right now to live in peace.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
You might find that you sometimes say you are ready when
really you are only ready to be ready. You might even say
you are ready to live in peace and then send angry thoughts
to a neighbor or resentment to a salesperson or disgust to a
troubled spot in the world. These are the thoughts and
feelings of non-peace that foster still more non-peace. You
might try to excuse such thoughts and feelings by claiming
your humanness or citing the wrongful acts of others. Being
human is a gift, not an excuse for being non-loving and
unkind. Ready yourself to accept peace in your life. You
can do this by making a conscious choice to see peace
everywhere.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Whether you are ready for peace or ready to be ready for
peace, open to all the images and thoughts and feelings and
ideas related to peace. Your "assignment" today is to write
a Target for the TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE PROJECT. I have
included Targets in recent DailyAffirm Messages which serve
as models. And check out the Targets for Love and Peace Web
Site at http://www.mhmail.com/Targets.html The DailyAffirm
Blog is set up for you to post your Targets. Visit it at
http://www.dailyaffirm.com.

ABOUT THE NEXT TYPE OF AFFIRMATIONS
This is the last of the Receiving/Accepting Affirmations
this month. Tomorrow the exploration of peace shifts to
Being/Intending affirmations. Today you may want to reflect
on all that you have received in the consciousness of peace
so that you can explore more deeply who you are. Please
also re-visit your over-arching intention because we use
that as a foundation for next week's affirmations.

ACCEPT CHANGE WITH A SMILE

Sooner or later you'll experience a crisis in your life,
and how you meet it will determine your future happiness and success.
Since the beginning of time,
everyone has been called upon to meet such a crisis.

A closer look will show you that most 'crisis situations'
are opportunities to either advance or stay where you are.
In fact, most changes in your life will take place
out of either 'inspiration' or 'desperation.'

Whatever comes your way,
give it meaning and transform it into something of value.
Your personal growth is the process of responding positively to change.

A precious stone cannot be polished without friction,
nor humanity perfected without trials.

THE NEGOTIATION P.R.O.F.I.L.E. (TM), part one

"You don't get what you deserve - you get what you
negotiate."

-Chester L. Karass

Whether you're negotiating a peace settlement in a war-torn
country or a peace settlement in an argument-ravaged
relationship, strong preparation is the key to success.

In the 1990's, I used to run courses in Europe and South America
in 'The Secrets of Emotional Negotiation'. One model I
developed for those courses was specifically designed to
maximize the effectiveness of your preparation - to ensure you
put together only the most useful information and insights for
creating the results you truly desire.

I called the model "The Negotiation P.R.O.F.I.L.E.(tm),
and it has proved itself incredibly useful over the years
not only to my students but in my own negotiations in business
and in life.

Four years ago, I wrote an article about the first three steps
in the P.R.O.F.I.L.E. process which has been circulating around
the internet under the title 'How to Negotiate Like a P.R.O.'.

Today's tip is an adapted and slightly expanded version of that
original; next week I will share the second half of the model
publicly for the first time...

===============
1. P = Purpose
===============

Knowing why you are engaged in a negotiation may seem obvious in
some situations (to buy a lamp, to stop a fight, etc.), but
more complex negotiations generally have more complex purposes.

Ask yourself:
-Why am I negotiating?
-What are the potential benefits?
-What do I ultimately hope to achieve?

===================================
2. R = Result/Relationship Balance
===================================

A "transaction" is high result/low relationship - we get what we
want, and the other person is incidental to the exchange.
Buying a used car is generally a "transaction".

"Relationship-builders" are meetings, calls, and exchanges of
value where developing the relationship between the two parties
is far more important than the actual tangible "result"
outcome. Early meetings in any project are usually
"relationship-builders" - what gets done is far less important
than connections being made.

A true "Deal" is where there is a high emphasis on both getting
what you want and enhancing your relationship for the future -
this "win/win" thinking takes more time and effort, but is
essential in any sort of long-term agreement. Successful
political (and marital!) negotiations are always predicated on
achieving this balance.

Give yourself the following test:

If you had 20 points to distribute between creating the Result
you want and enhancing the Relationship, how would you do it?

Example:
Result/Relationship Balance

15/5 - Transaction
5/15 - Relationship builder
10/10 - Deal

============================
3. O = Outcomes and Options
============================

When it comes to negotiation, having a clear outcome, goal, or
target in mind has been shown to be one of the primary
determinants in how things come out.

(See Richard G. Shell's excellent "Bargaining for Advantage" for
more information - details in the 'Want to Learn More?' section
at the end of the tip)

Ask yourself the following questions:
-What specifically do I want?
-What specifically do I think they want?
-What are some plausible options that will get us both what we
want?

--------------------
Today's Experiment:
--------------------

1. Identify at least three upcoming or ongoing negotiations in
your life - one personal, one professional, and one internal
(you may need to get creative with this one).

Examples:
Personal -
"My husband wants to spend our tax refund on a big screen TV; I
want to take a family holiday to Hawaii; our accountant wants
us to put it into a real-estate trust."

Professional -
"I want to negotiate a raise at work."

Internal -
"Part of me wants to eat unlimited amounts of chocolate; part of
me wants to look great naked!"

2. Apply the purpose, relationship, outcome and option questions
to each of the three negotiations. If you're using this to
prepare for a particularly important negotiation, take some
extra time to answer the questions AS IF you were the other
person in the negotiation. You will be pleasantly surprised at
the insights you gain from this process.

Next week, I will discuss the F.I.L.E. part of the equation,
which will give you the extra information you need to move
forward with confidence on your path to success...

Have fun, learn heaps, and negotiate like a P.R.O.!

With love,
michael

I accept hope, peace, joy, and love in all aspects of my life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
When one or two key issues grab your attention, you might
forget that other parts of your life can also use some
peaceful energy. So, today's affirmation helps you to open
all the parts of life to vibrations of hope, peace, joy, and
love. Even though there is only One Life, you tend to
experience life in segments and compartments. Today, open
the drawers and shelves, parts and particles, layers and
levels of life so that healing thoughts and feelings can
pour in and fill you and overflow. This concept can help to
erase the feelings of overwhelm and overload.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you feel that you have too many
demands on your time and resources? I hear from many of my
clients and DailyAffirm subscribers that they feel over-
whelmed; and I look at my own office with the clutter of too
many papers. If you feel overwhelmed, here is an approach
you might use working with today's affirmation: say it
repeatedly, silently or aloud, as your eyes fall on all the
tasks that face you and/or as you bring into your awareness
all that you must accomplish today. Breathe peace and love
into all aspects of your life.
Who are you?
“Please… tell me who you are and what you want. And if you think those are simple questions, keep in mind that most people live their entire lives without arriving at an answer.”
-- Gary Zukav
How deeply can you answer this question? Please realize that you are the only one who can answer it. No one else can tell you who you are. You must discover this for yourself. And the challenge of knowing ourselves is no easy task.
We hope this question excites rather than intimidates you. There’s so much more to you than you know at present! Isn’t this intriguing? Perhaps it’s time to go exploring….
“Mysterious and intimidating to contemplate, the human brain is the most complex thing there is and the most difficult task it can undertake is to understand itself.”
-- David Noonan
“I don’t think God cares where we were graduated or what we did for a living. God wants to know who we are. Discovering this is the work of the soul – it is our true life’s work.”
-- Bernie Siegel
THE KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS IS DESIRE
Reality forms around your commitment to succeed.
Your desires will in time externalize themselves into concrete fact.
If you're willing to pay the price, any of your circumstances will change.
If you want something badly enough, you're sure to get it.
Obstacles don't matter very much.
Pain or other circumstances can be there.
But, if you want something badly enough,
you'll find a way to get it done.
You only have to love a thing greatly to get it.
Desire is the fire of life.
Anytime You Need A Friend
Rose
Written by M. Carey and W. Afanasieff
If you're lonely
And need a friend
And troubles seem like
They never end
Just remember to keep the faith
And love will be there to light the way
Anytime you need a friend
I will be here
Never be alone again
So don't you fear
Even if you're miles away
I'm by your side
So don't you ever be lonely
Love will make it alright
When the shadows are closing in
And your spirit diminishing
Just remember you're not alone
And love will be there
To guide you home
Anytime you need a friend
I will be here
Never be alone again
So don't you fear
Even if you're miles away
I'm by your side
So don't you ever be lonely
Love will make it alright
If you just believe in me
I will love you endlessly
Take my hand
Take me into your heart
I'll be there forever baby
I won't let go
I'll never let go
Anytime you need a friend
I will be here
You'll never be alone again
So don't you fear
Even if you're miles away
I'm by your side
So don't you ever be lonely
It's alright
You know it's alright
Anytime you need a friend
I will be here
Never be alone again
So don't you fear
Even if you're miles away
I'm by your side
So don't you ever be lonely
Love will make it alright
Hero
Written by M. Carey and W. Afanasieff
There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
It's a long road
When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand
For you to hold
You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
Lord knows
Dreams are hard to follow
But don't let anyone
Tear them away, hey yeah
Hold on
There will be tomorrow
In time
You'll find the way
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
Follow Through
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBfbnjjjdKw
Oh, this is the start of something good
Don't you agree?
I haven't felt like this in so many moons
You know what I mean?
And we can build through this destruction
As we are standing on our feet
So, since you want to be with me
You'll have to follow through
With every word you say
And I, all I really want is you
You to stick around
I'll see you everyday
But you have to follow through
You have to follow through
These reeling emotions they just keep me alive
They keep me in tune
Oh, look what I'm holding here in my fire
This is for you
Am I too obvious to preach it?
You're so hypnotic on my heart
So, since you want to be with me
You'll have to follow through
With every word you say
And I, all I really want is you
You to stick around
I'll see you everyday
But you have to follow through
You have to follow through
The words you say to me are unlike anything
That's ever been said
And what you do to me is unlike anything
That's ever been
Am I too obvious to preach it?
You're so hypnotic on my heart
So, since you want to be with me
You'll have to follow through
With every word you say
And I, all I really want is you
(For) you to stick around
I'll see you everyday
But you'll have to follow through
With every word you say
An I, all I really want is you (For) you to stick around
I'll see everyday
But you have to follow through
You have to follow through
You're gonna have to follow
Oh, this is the start of something good
Don't you agree?
Sweet, Sweet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bYNGJ5keWg&eurl=
I took the easy way out of it This time I'll admit I guess I had the right to do so This time The night and the city took me so far away The traffic, the speed far below me I've been trying to cope with this loss, win this war But I'm so much better off with a break from it all Let me stay here for a while
And I'll be the sweet, sweet, I'll be sweet Sweet, Ill be all that you want me to be And I'll be sweet, sweet I'll be sweet Sweet, I'll be all that you want in a woman
Outside my window The rain's pouring down These great afternoons in the fall I could sit like this for hours With your music on This is how secrets are revealed I've been trying to cope with this loss, with this war But I'm so much better off with a break from it all Let me stay like this for a while
And I'll be the sweet, sweet, I'll be sweet Sweet, Ill be all that you want me to be And I'll be sweet, sweet I'll be sweet Sweet, I'll be all that you want in a woman
Bang Bang...
tear
I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight
Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down.
Seasons came and changed the time
When I grew up, I called him mine
He would always laugh and say
"Remember when we used to play?"
Bang bang, I shot you down
Bang bang, you hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, I used to shoot you down.
Music played, and people sang
Just for me, the church bells rang.
Now he's gone, I don't know why
And till this day, sometimes I cry
He didn't even say goodbye
He didn't take the time to lie.
Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down...
Twenty Dollars
A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In
the room of 200, he asked. "Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of
you - but first, let me do this."
He proceeded to crumple the 20 dollar note up. He then asked. "Who still
wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well," he replied, "what if I do this?" He dropped it on the
ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it
up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No
matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not
decrease in value. It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the
dirt by the decisio ns we make and the circumstances that come our way.
We feel as though we are worthless; but no matter what happened or what
will happen, you will never lose your value.
Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still
priceless to those who love you. The worth of our lives comes, not in
what we do or who we know, but by ...WHO WE ARE.
You are special - don't ever forget it."
Peace, you are my friend. I keep you by my side and in my
heart at all times.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Here is a wonderful image: you have a friend at your side
and in your heart at all times. The friend's name is Peace.
This is an image that is surely worthy of your attention.
It is also an image that is worthy of expansion. As you
master the art of being in an intimate relationship with
Peace, other people who have intimate relationships with
Peace gravitate to you. As you expand your inner peace
outwardly, you find peaceful experiences reflected in your
world. Remember that Peace is a Personal Choice.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
So, consider...... If Peace is your friend and Peace is at
your side and in your heart at all times...... What is it
you and Peace talk about? Do you remember that your friend,
Peace, is always with you? If you forget, what helps you to
remember again? When you go to lunch today, remember Peace
is with you. When you hear an angry voice (in you, from
you, or from outside you), remember Peace is with you. When
you breathe today, remember Peace is with you. When you go
to sleep tonight, remember Peace is with you.

ABOUT TARGETS FOR PEACE AND LOVE
I encourage you to write one or more TARGETS FOR PEACE AND
LOVE. Additional information is at the Marshall House Web
Site <http://www.mhmail.com/Targets.html>;. The form guides
you through developing a Target (stated succinctly) and a
high intention. Here's an excellent example:

TARGET: Government people, elected and employed
INTENTION: We surround all those in positions of governance
in peaceful thoughts so that they are guided by highest
integrity, wisdom, love and the highest good for all
concerned.

ABOUT AN INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
The DailyAffirm Blog is available for you to post your
Targets. Please first read the information about writing

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, allow me to experience peace in a way that I can
understand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Open to the grace that allows peace to show up in your life
in a simple and understandable way. Seek true peace of mind
and peace-fullness, rather than merely the absence of war or
the brief in-breath after a conflict. Seek a depth that
transcends human understanding, yet recognize that it is our
human intellect that seeks this knowledge and awareness. Is
your responsibility to manifest your own peace, and this is
the peace that is determined by the focus of your own attention.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
How do YOU pray? That is, how do you talk with the divine?
There are so many ways to be in such a conversation: to
speak, to listen, to show and tell; to be silent, to sing,
to chant, to praise, to thank, to confess, to express, to be.
What do you say to the divine? That is, what is the actual
content of your conversations or expressions? Everything
that has your attention is worthy of a conversation with God
(or insert your word for the divine): your feelings and
opinions, the experiences of the day, your hopes and dreams,
your disappointments and pains, your fears and doubts, your
joys and accomplishments. All of it. So, today, what is
your prayer?

ABOUT TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE
When participating in TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE, it is
important to check your intention, keeping it as high as
possible. For example, you might say that your intention is
"for the highest good of all." Or you might think, "I open
myself to allow love to flow through me, wherever it is
needed." While it may be tempting, it is not appropriate to
participate in TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE with the intention
of "fixing" something or someone. Your role is to identify
the target and hold a space for peace and love to express.
As you participate in TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE, continue
to check your intention. http://www.mhmail.com/Targets.html.
Here is an example.

Target: Todd and Alison
Intention: We hold Alison and Todd in the light, knowing that
they are rediscovering their love for each and learning to
love each other on a higher level.

Sonnet # LXII.

Sin of self-love possesseth all mine eye
And all my soul and all my every part;
And for this sin there is no remedy,
It is so grounded inward in my heart.
Methinks no face so gracious is as mine,
No shape so true, no truth of such account;
And for myself mine own worth do define,
As I all other in all worths surmount.
But when my glass shows me myself indeed,
Beated and chopp'd with tann'd antiquity,
Mine own self-love quite contrary I read;
Self so self-loving were iniquity.
'Tis thee, myself, that for myself I praise,
Painting my age with beauty of thy days.

"Peace is the inner nature of humankind. If you find it within
yourself, you will then find it everywhere." ~Ramana Maharshi

Can You See God?

A small boy once approached his slightly older sister with a question
about God. "Susie, can anybody ever really see God?" he asked.

Busy with other things, Susie curtly replied: "No, of course
not silly. God is so far up in heaven that nobody can see him."

Time passed, but his question still lingered so he approached his mom:
"Mom, can anybody ever really see God?" "No, not really," she gently
said. "God is a spirit and he dwells in our hearts, but we can never
really see Him."

Somewhat satisfied but still wondering, the youngster went on his way.
Not long afterwards, his saintly old grandfather took the little boy on a
fishing trip.

They were having a great time together. The sun was beginning to set with
unusual splendor and the grandfather stared silently at the exquisite
beauty unfolding before them.

On seeing the face of his grandfather reflecting such deep
peace and contentment, the little boy thought for a moment and finally
spoke hesitatingly:

"Granddad, I--I-- wasn't going to ask anybody else, but I wonder if you
can tell me the answer to something I've been wondering about a long
time. Can anybody--can anybody ever really see God?".

The old man did not even turn his head. A long moment slipped by before
he finally answered. "Son," he quietly said. "It's getting so I can't see
anything else."

REALITY IS SOMETHING YOU RISE ABOVE

You're more important than any of your problems.
You're bigger than anything that can happen to you.

Great things are accomplished when you believe
that what's inside of you is superior to your circumstances.
What you have outside you counts less
than what you have inside you.

Courage is a special kind of knowledge.
It's the knowledge of how to fear what ought to be feared
and how not to fear what ought not to be feared. True courage is a result of reasoning.
A brave mind is always impregnable.

Nothing external to you has power over you.

Higher perspectives

“Bias and impartiality is in the eye of the beholder.”

-- Lord Barnett

According to Andrew Schneider, the radical difference between personality awareness and soul consciousness is a difference in perspectives. Acquiring a soul perspective allows us to see things differently – and we always see a more inclusive, universal picture. This expanded view adds to an understanding, enjoyment and appreciation of life.

If I insist on hanging on to a personality perspective that is contrary to a soul perspective, the two perspectives will clash. This challenges me to find a way through to a deeper truth than I previously knew. This kind of tension between soul and personality positions is typical of the prelude to transformation that is a vital part of the soul journey.

“I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead; I lift my eyes and all is born again.”

-- Sylvia Plath

Sonnet # LXI.

Is it thy will thy image should keep open
My heavy eyelids to the weary night?
Dost thou desire my slumbers should be broken,
While shadows like to thee do mock my sight?
Is it thy spirit that thou send'st from thee
So far from home into my deeds to pry,
To find out shames and idle hours in me,
The scope and tenor of thy jealousy?
O, no! thy love, though much, is not so great:
It is my love that keeps mine eye awake;
Mine own true love that doth my rest defeat,
To play the watchman ever for thy sake:
For thee watch I whilst thou dost wake elsewhere,
From me far off, with others all too near.

WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET

If you believe that you can do something, you can do it.
You must believe in it one hundred percent.
Your mind always sets your limits.
What you believe yourself to be, you are.
What you believe you can be in the future, you can become.

Your self image prescribes the limits for the accomplishment of your goals.
It prescribes the "area of the possible" for you.
Self esteem is the strongest single factor in prosperity consciousness.
Believe you can do it. Believe you deserve it. Believe you will get it.
If you want to be successful,
start thinking of yourself as successful.

The feelings must come first from within you.
It's all in your mind.

I allow peace to flow through me and keep my attention.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Peace can flow through you as a river, if you but open your
consciousness to allow peace into your life in this
effortless way. So often, though, you get distracted.
Activity and noise usually get your attention more than
peace or silence or stillness. As you give your attention
to meditating and being conscious and caring about the
planet and loving life, you make it more natural for peace
to be wherever you are. Prepare a place for peace by
practicing peaceful acts. Allow peace to use you. Allow
yourself to be a place for peace to manifest.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
To what do you give your attention? To things? To ideas?
To the mundane? To difficulties? To the ideal? To
circumstances? To goals? To frustrations? To news broad-
casts? To Spirit? Over the course of a day, your attention
is likely to flow to many different things and ideas, to
possibilities, to questions, to facts, to dreams, to
opinions. You may find yourself inspired or bored -- it is
your choice how you respond to the events and conditions in
your life. Remember that you are not the events and
conditions, but can use them to give peace an opportunity to
manifest.
ABOUT TARGETS FOR LOVE AND PEACE
I encourage you to be on the search for events and
conditions that are in need of a loving and peaceful
consciousness. Give your attention to peace. Here is an
example of using this process to lighten your world. In a
news item, I read about the devastation of fires in a local
area. Here is a Target based on this news item:
TARGET: Fires in the Valley
INTENTION: To hold in the light of loving consciousness all
involved: those who have died or experienced injury,
families and friends, rescue workers, medical personnel, all
who have helped or observed, and the land.
Time for stillness
“We're so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value that we forget that the inner value, the rapture that is associated with being alive, is what it's all about.”
-- Joseph Campbell
The sages all say that the path to liberation is found in entering the stillness within. To experience that stillness, we need to be willing to regularly stop the activity for a while.
How do we do this in a busy life? We set our priorities. Perhaps it means giving up a TV program or using a coffee break to grab a few moments of solitude. Perhaps we have to ask our partner, relative or neighbour to give us 30 minutes of time away from the kids. If we really want something, we can make it happen.
"Learn to pause... or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you."
-- Doug King
If there be nothing new, but that which is
Hath been before, how are our brains beguiled,
Which, labouring for invention, bear amiss
The second burden of a former child!
O, that record could with a backward look,
Even of five hundred courses of the sun,
Show me your image in some antique book,
Since mind at first in character was done!
That I might see what the old world could say
To this composed wonder of your frame;
Whether we are mended, or whether better they,
Or whether revolution be the same.
O, sure I am, the wits of former days
To subjects worse have given admiring praise.
Make this a playful day!
I recognize that the Universe is like a symphony, with many
parts, players, sounds, and rhythms, creating the whole.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Life is, indeed, a symphony. You may hear it as Beethoven's
Fifth Symphony; you may hear it as Pachobel's Canon in D;
you may hear it as Jingle Bells; or you may hear it as an
unpleasant cacophony. You receive sounds through the air,
energy interpreted by your ears and other parts of your body.
Consider how you can make it as simple to receive peace into
your life as it is to hear music with your ears or feel
music as you naturally do. When I originally composed this
message, I was listening to Vangelis' "La Petite Fille de la
Mer." It has a sweet tone and texture, probably considered
a lullaby. Some music is for your feet, some for your heart,
some for your head, and some for your soul. You can dance
with or against the music. You can hum or be silent. You
choose how to accept the music of life.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
What is your favorite symphony or song? Stop for a moment.
Close your eyes and listen deeply to hear your favorite
music from inside you. Are these the sounds of peace -- or
are they the sounds of something else? Listen to the tone,
the cadence, the rhythm. Do you hear the parts or the whole
or both? Listen for the changes in volume and resonance and
pitch. What is the song you are to sing today? What
symphony do you want to conduct today?

ABOUT TARGETS FOR PEACE AND LOVE

Your Holy Heart

What the world needs now is love, sweet love. We've been talking about
this in one way or another all summer. Some of you have been playing the
Self-Esteem Game, and some have been doing deep inner work to heal and
find peace. This week, I simply want to offer up a gentle reminder that
the sweet love we all seek resides within us.

I see it all the time...we look everywhere in the world for love except
where we're actually going to find it. We try to find it in our soul
mate or partner, in our friends, in our bank accounts, in our public
image, in our successes, in our communities, but it only exists in one
place inside ourselves - in our own holy hearts.

And our hearts require so much more than most of us give them.

They need gentle love and compassion, they need forgiveness, and they
need complete acceptance of their disappointments and pain. Until we
recognize this and commit to bringing the light of our awareness inside
ourselves, we have to continue our human rat race of trying, trying
harder, getting, collecting, wanting, and hungering for the outer. Think
about all the times you've just taken your holy heart and given it away;
all the times you've put your holy heart in the hands of people you
didn't really know or trust. Think of all the times you left your holy
heart at home alone, just so you could chase something you thought would
make you feel better.

Imagine you had a precious baby that you waited all your life to give
birth to. Would you just hand the baby off to anybody on the street?
Would you leave him or her for days, weeks, months, or years? Would you
subject it to people who were spewing negativity - always asking what's
wrong with it? No, you wouldn't. And you wouldn't do this to your heart
either if you knew its sacredness. You would hold it, love it, and pay
proper attention to it. You would worship it and bless it. You would be
in awe of it.

And what else?

You would walk your heart, talk to your heart, and make love to your
heart. You would dress your heart up and take it out on the town. You
would speak the most beautiful, prayerful words to your heart...

My holy heart, I offer you the love and compassion that you deserve

My holy heart, I give back to you all the energy that I so generously
put out to others

My holy heart, I hold you as the sacred, precious jewel that you are

My holy heart, I am grateful for every feeling you experience, every
pain that has passed through you, every moment of joy and hope

I love you like I love no other, because I know that you are imbued with
the richness of the universe and the light of God right now, inside of
me

And when I embrace all of me, I will be able to love all of you

Ultimately, you would let go of old regrets and resentments from the
past, because you would finally want to be present with this radiant
diamond in the center of your being.

Breathe into that, just breathe into that - you have a jewel. You are
the jewel. Treasure yourself like a million pounds of gold. See and
acknowledge your own heart, and then notice what happens in the outer
world. This is one of the most potent antidotes in existence for
addressing the great pain in the heart of the world.

Take Action Now!

Make this an angelic day!

I release memories that allowed belief in war and strife. I
let peaceful angels clear misconceptions and distortions
from my path.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
All experiences and events are manifested from thoughts and
beliefs and feelings. War and strife are no exception; war
and strife exist only because thoughts create them.
Memories of past war and strife collect in your energy field
unless you intentionally give your attention to something
else. The good news is that the negative aspects of these
thoughts CAN be shifted so that they do not cause further
distortion. War on war is still war. War on terrorism feeds
terrorism. You can join with others to release distortions
and misconceptions that have been used to create dissonance.
Most important, release resistance.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Do you believe in war and strife? Maybe. Maybe not. While
you may not be personally responsible for any war or strife
currently on the planet, you contribute to the consciousness
that exists here. You can have a direct impact on shifting
that consciousness from war to peace, from dark to light.
How? By living in peace yourself. By envisioning peace.
By knowing that peace is possible in your world. By turning
your attention from news on war to an aspect of peace. By
no longer providing the fuel of war: doubts and fears and
anger and hatred and beliefs in scarcity are examples of
such fuel. When you are aware of your thoughts of peace,
you are less likely to yield to thoughts of revenge or war
or other distortions. You can do it. Give your attention
to what you want. Start now.
I let go of everything -- real or apparent -- that distracts
me from peace and harmony. I release resistance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
The world presents many opportunities for distractions.
Stuff from the past can distract you. Fears of the future
can distract you. Lies and doubts and comparisons can also
distract you. Resistance is an interesting energy that can
keep you creating and re-creating the habits and patterns
and fears that prevent you from living in peace. It is time
to let go of non-peace dynamics, and to let go in a
matter-of-fact way. As your consciousness lifts, your
awareness of reality shifts. The things you do not want, no
matter how real they have appeared, drop from your attention.
The things you want that have been invisible become more
visible. You can live in the peace which passes human
understanding.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
What distracts YOU from peace and harmony? Maybe nothing.
Maybe you are able to live in peace and harmony most of the
time. If so, bravo! Let your consistent attention to
peace and harmony expand outward as a model for others. If
you do feel distracted by non peace, let your life mission
be your most potent guide for living in peace. When you
embrace and live your true purpose, you are at peace. Such
peace is so profound that words can only touch the surface
of its understanding.

The blind man and Everest

      Little by little we seem to grow used to the same metaphors for life. Some time ago I wrote in this column the “Manual for climbing mountains”, and out of the blue I meet a reader in Hamburg who decides to share his experience with me about climbing in life. He discovered what hotel I am in, and has some criticism to make of my page in the Internet. After making some harsh comments, he asks:
     “Do you mind if I take a photo with my girlfriend?”
     Of course I don’t. He picks up his cellular, presses a button, says nothing, and his girlfriend turns up a minute later.
      After the photo is taken comes the next question, this one more intriguing:
     “Can a blind man climb Mount Everest?”
     “I don’t think so,” I answer.
     “Why don’t you answer ‘perhaps’?”
     I am almost certain that I am in the company of a “compulsive optimist.” One thing is the whole universe conspiring for our dreams to become true, quite another is to place yourself in front of absolutely unnecessary challenges, which can lead to death or unpredictable failure.
     I explain that I have to leave for an appointment, but the reader does not give up.
     “The blind can climb Everest, the highest mountain in the world (8,848 meters). Not only can they do it, but I happen to know of at least one blind person who did it. His name is Erik Weihenmayer. Can your appointment wait?”
     Since he gave me a name, there could an interesting story here. My appointment can wait, of course.
     “In 2001, Weihenmayer managed the feat. Meanwhile, people complain that they cannot afford a better car, more elegant clothes, and a salary that matches their abilities.”
     “Are you sure?”
     “Look it up in the Internet. But what fascinates me is that Weihenmayer knew exactly what he wanted: he changed his life into what he thought it should be. He had the courage to risk everything to have the universe conspire in his favor.”
     I agree. The reader goes on, as if my attitude is no longer of any interest to him:
     “If you know what you want in life, then you have all you need to manage to make your dream come true. Didn’t you yourself say that?”
     Of course. But there are limits, such as blind people climbing the highest mountain on earth.
     “And if people have no dreams, what are they supposed to do?”
     “Think about something that they would like to be doing, and then take the first step,” I answer. “Without being afraid of making a mistake. Without fear of offending those who ‘worry’ about their behavior.”
     “That’s it!” said the reader, for the first time identifying my ideas clearly. “So we realize that to reach what we want we have to run risks. Don’t you say that in your books?”
     Not only do I say it, but I also try to keep my word. But we are interrupted in our conversation; it is time for the appointment that has brought me to Hamburg. I thank him for his attention, ask him to send me suggestions for my page on the Internet, we take another picture and then say goodbye.
      At three o’clock in the morning, returning from that event, I reach into my pocket for the key to my room and discover the piece of paper where he had jotted down the blind man’s name. Even knowing that I have to travel to Cairo in a couple of hours, I turn on the computer, and there it is:
     “On 25 May 2001, at the age of 32, Erik Weihenmayer became the first blind person to reach the top of the highest mountain in the world. A former high-school teacher, he received the ESPN and IDEA prize for his courage in overcoming the limits that his physical condition permitted. Besides Everest, Erik Weihenmayer has climbed the other seven highest mountains in the world, including Aconcagua in Argentina and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania”.
      If you don’t believe it, look it up.

That god forbid that made me first your slave,
I should in thought control your times of pleasure,
Or at your hand the account of hours to crave,
Being your vassal, bound to stay your leisure!
O, let me suffer, being at your beck,
The imprison'd absence of your liberty;
And patience, tame to sufferance, bide each cheque,
Without accusing you of injury.
Be where you list, your charter is so strong
That you yourself may privilege your time
To what you will; to you it doth belong
Yourself to pardon of self-doing crime.
I am to wait, though waiting so be hell;
Not blame your pleasure, be it ill or well.

I rescind obsolete vows of struggle and outdated beliefs in
separation.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Vows and beliefs can be rescinded, revoked, reversed. Any
current, desired vows and beliefs remain intact when you use
this affirmation. You do not want to eradicate something
merely because of its age, but because of its relevance.
The planet is filled with masters of struggle and separation
who are now ready to shift their attention to other areas to
demonstrate mastery (for example, peace and joy and love and
wisdom). You can approach peace and joy and love and wisdom
with the same determination and intensity that allowed you
to believe so strongly in struggle and separation. Then
release the determination and intensity; gently let it go.
ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Here is an exercise so you can play with the idea of
separation and oneness, struggle and peace. Pick up a piece
of paper or book or CD case or any solid, flat object. With
that object in one hand, place your other hand in front of
you about 10-12 inches from your face with the palm facing
you and your fingers spread apart. Now, place the object
against the palm of your hand so that only the tips of your
fingers and thumb are exposed. See the five fleshy things,
each somewhat similar yet unique and unconnected. Slowly
now, begin to move the object downward or your hand upward,
so that you gradually witness that these five pieces of
flesh become closer as the obstruction lessens. Then
remove the object to reveal that the five digits that first
appeared as separate are not only connected, they are all
one.
Imagine the interactions of the fingertips with each other
when the object veils the Truth of their oneness -- probably
they fight, compare, wish or bargain for a different
position. When the appearance of separation is dissolved,
how truly absurd it is that one fingertip might injure or
envy another fingertip. After a fingertip accepts itself as
a fingertip, it explores its journey to the source and
remembers (re-members) its oneness. (Hmm. I feel a story
bubbling entitled "Adventures of a Fingertip.") :-)
The Cleaning Lady
During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop
quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the
questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the
woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had
seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in
her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the
last question blank. Before class ended, one student asked if the last
question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the
professor. "In your careers you will meet many people. All are
significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is
smile and say 'Hello'."
I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.
Make this an effortless day!
ABOUT THE OVER-ARCHING INTENTION
If you have not already done so, please identify your over-
arching intention for Peace. That is, develop a statement
that guides you in the exploration and embodiment of peace.
Intention is the energy or consciousness from which actions
emerge. If you are uncertain how to write this intention,
just make an attempt. Keep your statement simple. You have
31 days to work with the intention and the theme, so let
your statement change and deepen. Here are a few
suggestions for statements of intention about the theme of
Peace: *To be in harmony. *To be a place for peace to
reside. *To experience peace in my world. *To realize the
peace that passes human understanding.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I give myself permission to release disharmony and conflict
from the energy field. I find it easy to say goodbye to
dis-ease and disease.

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
To have permission is the perfect starting place. I have
repeatedly seen how powerful it is for those who are
uncertain, when someone says simply, "it's OK." Sometimes
you need to hear permission from someone whom you trust;
sometimes you need to hear permission from within yourself;
sometimes you need to hear permission from a stranger who
knows nothing about you. Today's permission is for the
release of non-peace. When you affirm the effortlessness of
saying goodbye to non-peace, you can lessen or eliminate
uncomfortable sensations while the non-peace passes.
Feeling discomfort is the clue that you must name your
process a "healing" and keep moving.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Your over-arching intention for Peace is an idea that serves
as an umbrella over the exploration of peace as well as over
your actions with respect to the idea of peace. You may
find it helpful to specify a focus for your exploration:
personal peace, family peace, work place peace, community
peace, interpersonal peace, internal peace, world peace, or
another piece of peace. Whatever has your attention has
your energy.

I recommend that you write this week's affirmations, if such
a process appeals to you. I have developed a process which
is described in the book, "Affirmations: A Pathway to
Transformation" and in the article entitled, "Writing
Affirmations for Empowerment." This article is posted at

ABOUT RELEASING/CLEANSING AFFIRMATIONS and PEACE
The week of releasing and cleansing is designed to support
you in clearing away those things that block the expression
or realization of peace. Limitations and interference with
peace include dis-ease (disease) and dis-harmony (disharmony)
and fear and conflict and separation and struggle and war
and revenge and pain and indecision. Releasing non-peace
can be joyous or non-joyous, peaceful or non-peaceful. You
can choose.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Are you holding on to something? If so, release and let go.
You may know what you are holding on to or you may not.
The process of release does NOT require that you know what
you are clearing; in fact, exploring all the details keeps
the stuff around rather than letting it go. Make the choice.
Relax and let go. Know that all is in divine order. Relax.
Let go.

I recommend that you write this week's affirmations, if such
a process appeals to you. I have developed a process which
is described in the book, "Affirmations: A Pathway to
Transformation" and in the article entitled, "Writing
Affirmations for Empowerment." This article is posted at

ABOUT THE AFFIRMATIONS
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week
to represent releasing and cleansing for Peace it would be
the affirmation for August 1, "I give myself permission to
release disharmony and conflict from the energy field. I
find it easy to say good bye to dis-ease and disease." It
is important to cooperate with this release and to affirm
that the process is effortless and easy.

Following are all seven affirmations. Select one to focus
on for the week or use a different affirmation each day or
some combination. You will receive each of these
affirmations on the appropriate days with additional
information and suggestions. Make your process work for
you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
August 1:
I give myself permission to release disharmony and conflict
from the energy field. I find it easy to say good bye to
dis-ease and disease.
August 2:
I rescind obsolete vows of struggle and outdated beliefs in
separation.
August 3:
I let go of everything -- real or apparent -- that distracts
me from peace and harmony. I release resistance.
August 4:
I release memories that allowed belief in war and strife. I
let peaceful angels clear misconceptions and distortions
from my path.
August 5:
I cut negative bonds of attachment to disharmony, discord,
and dissonance.
August 6:
I dissolve thoughts that suggest there is no peace.
August 7:
I let Spirit (My Higher Self, God, My Spirit Guides, The One,
The Force, Infinite Source) purify any remaining thoughts
and feelings of separation.
CONCENTRATION OPENS THE DOOR TO SUCCESS
The first law of success is concentration.
Bend all your energies to one point,
and go directly to that point,
looking neither to the right nor the left.
By focusing your efforts to a single point,
you'll always achieve the greatest results.
If you concentrate your efforts on a few major goals,
your efficiency will soar, your projects will be completed,
and you'll be going somewhere.
Focus totally on the business at hand
and command yourself to do exactly what you want to do.
If you focus the full power of all you are
on what you have a burning desire to achieve,
you'll attain success.
Questions that aren't helpful
“We accept many notions because they seem to be the logical answers to our questions. But have we asked the right questions?”
-- Harold L. Klawans
Sometimes we ask questions for which we really don’t want the answer! Nonetheless, when we ask a question, our subconscious minds will get to work to answer us.
Here are some examples of questions we want to avoid:
- What’s wrong with me?
- How long could this take?
- What could go wrong?
- How much trouble could it be?
- How hard could it be?
Asking questions can be empowering – as long as they’re smart questions!
"The uncreative mind can spot wrong answers, but it takes a very creative mind to spot wrong questions."
-- Anthony Jay
