"Need To Let Go Of Control?"

"The world is not to be put in order; the world is order, incarnate. It is for us to harmonize with this order."

-- Henry Miller

Ego believes that it needs to protect us from external dangers. Through control and manipulation, it aims to keep us safe. This need of ego is based in fear.

If we hope to live in love, we must become acquainted with soul. Experiencing soul brings a deep knowing that this is a loving universe. Experiencing soul also builds faith. We learn to trust that we don’t have to run the show. And when we do this, we tap the source of true freedom and joy.

"It is not action or effort that we must surrender; it is self-will, and this is terribly difficult. You must do your best constantly, yet never allow yourself to become involved in whether things work out the way you want."

-- Eknath Easwaran

"True spiritual surrender responsibly opens itself to the unknown."

-- Stephen V. Doughty

"When humans find themselves surrounded by nothing but objects, the response is always one of loneliness."

-- Brian Swimme

Soul lives through relationship and it is in soul that we find meaning. We can have meaningful relationships with people, animals and other beings, projects, ideas and ideals.

How much time do you devote to building relationships with things?

"Loneliness is caused by an alienation from life. It is a loneliness from your real self."

-- Maxwell Maltz

"No soul is desolate as long as there is a human being for whom it can feel trust and reverence."

-- George Eliot

Eliminate The Negative

"Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."

Over the years, I have worked with any number of struggling actors and musicians who resented the rich and famous while simultaneously striving to join their ranks.

The problem with that is simple: It's difficult to become something if you hate it. Your unconscious mind craves consistency  and if you keep telling it that all naturally thin people are bad in some way, it will do whatever it can to not let you become one of them.

There is something miraculously freeing about celebrating the success of others, even those people we don't particularly like.

Try it as an experiment for the next few days. Whenever you hear about someone doing well, think something congratulatory. Bless their success instead of cursing it.

Shortly this will become a new habit and you will become a more positive person. And as you begin to wish the best for those who are thinner than you, your unconscious mind will begin to make you more like them!

Dr. Wayne Dyer:
You only have one life to live. You don't have time to become attached to anything! Live your passion, live your life: These are a few of the Secrets to Success. Everyone can become successful. There is enough room in the universe for EVERYONE to have what they want!

In Buddhism we establish whether a teacher is authentic by whether or not
the guidance he or she is giving accords with the teachings of the
Buddha. It cannot be stressed too often that it is truth of the teaching
which is all-important, and never the personality of the teacher. This is
why Buddha reminded us in the "Four reliances":

Rely on the message of the teacher, not on his personality;
Rely on the meaning, not just on the words;
Rely on the real meaning, not just the provisional one;
rely on your wisdom mind, not on your ordianry, judgmental mind.

So it is important to remember that the true teacher, as we shall see, is
the spokesman of the truth: its compassionate "wisdom display." All the
buddhas, masters, and prophets, in fact are the emanation of this truth,
appearing in countless skillful, compassionate guises in order to guide
us through their teachin, back to our true nature. At first then, more
impor tant than finding the teacher is through making a connection with
the truth of the teaching, for it is through making a connection with the
truth of the teaching that you will discover your living connection with
a master.

"Determination with an optimistic attitude is the key factor to success"
Dalai Lama

One by One

"You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight."

There is a part of your brain called the amygdala whose job it is to keep you safe by preventing you from making major changes in your life.

Any time it senses you're going to upset the status quo, it releases stress hormones into your body to "encourage" you to give up and go back to "the way things always have been".

Taking one small action a day outsmarts the amygdale by sneaking past its radar. Yet the cumulative effects of these single daily actions will be nothing short of life-changing.

When you are used to doing one thing, two things is easy. When you are used to doing fifty, fifty-one is just as simple. What is one small daily action you could begin taking to make changes in the important areas of your life?

Here are some examples to get you started;
To manage stress, I will: Take one deep breath a day
To save money, I will: Put one penny into a jar
To have more time, I will: Get up one minute earlier
Now it's your turn!

"If you just keep moving, sooner or later the finish line will show up."

Stu Mittleman is the world record holder for the 1,000-mile endurance run and a physical mastery guru. In an interview I once read, a reporter asked Mittleman how he had geared up mentally for running the equivalent of nearly 40 continuous marathons. Mittleman replied: "I never ran 1,000 miles! I can't even conceive of running 1,000 miles. All I did was run one mile a thousand times.!

Your dreams are a vision of where you'll be after the battle;
your prize at the end of your journey to success.
Your goals are the steps you take to finally attain your prize.

Unless you're willing to work hard
and establish some discipline in your life,
all of your dreams will be pipe dreams,
little mental fantasy trips that will never materialize.

Make concrete steps toward fulfilling your ultimate dream,
and start with solid objectives called goals.
Your dreams are where you want to go,
your goals are how you get there.

The indispensable first step
to getting the things you want out of life is this:
decide what you want.

Don't be afraid to think big and dare to be great.
Dreamers are not content with mediocrity.
They never dream of going half way.

People with dreams and goals succeed because they know where they're going.

"Living In Harmony"

"Peace comes not from the absence of conflict, but from the ability to cope with it."

-- Unknown Source

Angeles Arrien says that life will be simple if we follow the four-fold way counselled by indigenous peoples:

1. Show up, being present with all four mental, emotional, physical and spiritual intelligences.

2. Pay attention to what has heart and meaning.

3. Tell the truth without blame or judgment.

4. Be open to outcome, not attached to outcome.

"Peace is not won by those who fiercely guard their differences, but by those who with open minds and hearts seek out connections."

-- Katherine Paterson

Sometimes if you want to see a change for the better,
you have to take things into your own hands.
Once you decide to be at the level of choice,
you take responsibility for your life and gain control of it.

You're in control of your life to the degree that you make the decisions.
If you let others make decisions for you, you have no control.
When you control the decisions, you control the actions.

Take charge of your life.
You don't have to ask permission of other people.
Don't give someone veto power over your life.

If you don't run your own life, someone else will.
If not you, then who?
If not now, then when?

"What Needs Attention?"

"We often spend so much time coping with problems along our path that we only have a dim or even inaccurate view of what's really important to us."

-- Peter Senge

Where are you struggling in your life?

Look at your career, finances, relationships, growth, health and emotions. Where are you experiencing major challenges? Of these, which area most needs your attention at this time? Set an intention to face this struggle and resolve it. ATTENTION on your TENSION often releases it.

"The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it's the same problem you had last year."

-- John Foster Dulles

You are never given a wish
without also being given the power to make it come true.

The achievement of your goal is assured
the moment you commit yourself to it.
If you have the desire, you have the power to attain it.

You can have anything you want in life
if you will sacrifice everything else for it.
Your dreams can come true if you pursue them.

Old wisdom...

Know that the Self is the rider, and the body the chariot; that the
intellect is the charioteer, and the mind the reins.

The senses, say the wise, are the horses; the roads they travel are
the mazes of desire.

When a man lacks discrimination and his mind is uncontrolled, his
senses are unmanageable, like the restive horses of a charioteer. But
when a man has discrimination and his mind is controlled, his senses,
like the well-broken horses of a charioteer, lightly obey the rein. ~
The Upanishads

"Honour Yourself"

"I’d gone through life believing in the strength and competence of others; never in my own. Now, dazzled, I discovered that my capacities were real. It was like finding a fortune in the lining of an old coat."

-- Joan Mills

Take a moment to stop and think about what you give to the people and life around you. Don’t think about what you’re not doing right. Look instead at all you do that is a blessing.

Many of us continually beat ourselves up for not doing or being enough. But imagine for a moment that you are great just as you are. Feel the relief this brings! Now open to the possibility that this is not a daydream. It’s true! Believe it!

"People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success."

-- Norman Vincent Peale

"We cannot rise higher than our thought of ourselves."

"Create Happiness Right Now"

"It is our basic right to be a happy person, happy family, and eventually a happy world. That should be our goal."

-- Dalai Lama

Little adjustments to our attitude and approach each day can create a major difference in our appreciation of life. On the surface, nothing changes. At the same time, absolutely everything does.

Use your awareness or your imagination to bring happiness to this moment. Find something to appreciate. Do this as often as you remember to do so, and your world will transform.

" ... we can no longer afford to throw away even one ‘unimportant’ day by not noticing the wonder of it all. We have to be willing to discover and then appreciate the authentic moments of happiness available to all of us every day."

You don't have to buy from anyone.
You don't have to work at any particular job.
You don't have to participate in any given relationship.

"Do You Engage In Violence?"

"There are three kinds of violence: one, through our deeds; two, through our words; and three, through our thoughts. ... The root of all violence is in the world of thoughts, and that is why training the mind is so important."

-- Eknath Easwaran

While there’s plenty of violence in the world, not many of us engage in violent actions. But are we violent at times with the words we speak? How often do we think vicious thoughts?

We may assume our thinking is an internal matter that has no bearing on the quality of life in the world. Perhaps we need to think again.

There's a price to pay if you want to make things better,

Whatever you want in life, you must give up something to get it.
The greater the value, the greater the sacrifice required of you.

Nothing worthwhile ever comes easily.
Work, continuous work and hard work,

"On Freedom"

"Our ultimate freedom is the right and power to decide how anybody or anything outside ourselves will affect us."

-- Stephen Covey

A Greek myth can help us understand the freedom that comes with power of choice.

In the Underworld, Sisyphus was condemned to roll a large stone up a hill from which it always rolled down again. Realistically, he was trapped in an endless cycle of rolling the stone. When he perceived himself to be imprisoned by the curse, he was a victim.

At one point, however, he turned the tables -- he changed his mind and decided to CHOOSE to roll the stone up the hill. In doing so, he empowered himself and defused the curse.

"Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you."

-- Jean-Paul Sartre

I Wish I was in Carrickfergus
Where the castle looks out to sea
I would swim over the deepest ocean
For my love to be with me

But the sea is wide and I cannot swim over
Nor have I the wings to fly
I wish I had a handsome boatman
To ferry me over, my love and I

I wish I was in the land of Eire
Where the mountains reach the sea
Where flowers blossom as I do remember
Where my true love came to me

But the sea is wide, and I cannot swim over
Nor have I the wings to fly
Ah, to be back now in Carrickfergus
To be together, my love and I
To be together, my love and I

I wish I was in Carrickfergus
To be together, my love and I

"Remember Your Spiritual Side"

"The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays."

-- Soren Kierkegaard

Reminding ourselves often of our spiritual natures truly changes the quality of our lives. It helps us relax, slow down, lighten up, and generally find more space and joy in life.

When we get down on ourselves or life, we can pull back and ask, "How might my soul regard this situation? What am I being invited to experience?"

This shift in perspective helps us let go of the resistance that always comes with negativity. As energy once again begins to flow, our outlook brightens.

"Spirituality is the sacred center out of which all life comes, including Mondays and Tuesdays and rainy Saturday afternoons in all their mundane and glorious detail. ... The spiritual journey is the soul's life commingling with ordinary life."

-- Christina Baldwin

"It is not my business to think about myself. My business is to think about God. It is for God to think about me."

-- Simone Weil

"Believe In Magic!"

"... for magic to happen in your life, you must believe in magic."

-- Grandmother, quoted by Lynn Andrews

"Most of the time, we fall in love but can’t remain there. The world then calls the state we were in a delusion or infatuation ... But we merely lacked, or someone else lacked, the emotional skills to hold on to the magic when the morning came. ... In truth, we can go to the moon and retain its magic for a lifetime."

-- Marianne Williamson

"We think, sometimes, there’s not a dragon left. Not one brave knight, not a single princess gliding through secret forests ... What a pleasure to be wrong. Princesses, knights, enchantments and dragons, mystery and adventure ... not only are they here-and-now, they’re all that ever lived on earth! Masters of reality still meet us in dreams to tell us that we’ve never lost the shield we need against dragons, that blue-fire voltage arcs through us now to change our world as we wish. Intuition whispers true: We’re not dust, we’re magic!"

-- Richard Bach

An Unstoppable Positive Attitude

The difference between those that succeed at manifesting their goals
and those that never quit arrive is truly their attitude. Many people
give up on a goal when they encounter difficulties or obstacles. They
fall prey to the "I give up" sickness. Begin today to adopt an
unstoppable attitude. How do you do this?

First, you proclaim each day that you are unstoppable, and that you
can manifest whatever you set your mind to achieving. Remember what
you focus on is what you create. I suggest that you state outloud the
affirmation, "I am unstoppable" at least 5 times each morning when
you first look in the mirror.

Secondly, instead of viewing a difficulty as a roadblock, see it as
an opportunity. How can you transform this problem into something
that supports you? Make solving the problem fun. For instance, you
could get together with some friends and do some brainstorming, you
could take a walk and think about it, or you could set the intention
of receiving the answer in a dream, etc.. When you are feeling
blocked, remember that there is always a solution waiting to be
discovered, and just allow other people to help you discover it.

Lastly and most importantly begin to ask the Universe for help. The
Universe wants you to manifest your desires and is just waiting for
you to ask for help. Once you send out a strong request to the
universe, your request will be answered. The universe can easily help
you overcome any obstacle that you might encounter. Some of the
easiest ways to send out a request to the Universe include:

- Writing a letter to the universe describing in detail what you need
and thanking the universe for providing it at the end of the letter.

- Going into a mediative state and ask the universe for help.

- Affirming daily that the Universe is supporting you. Two good
affirmations to repeat are "I am completely supported by the Universe
and the Universe is providing the answers I seek."

"Reflections On Effort"

The anxious student asked the Zen master how long to enlightenment. The Zen Master answered a long time, at least 10 years. The student said, "Well I will work twice as hard." The Zen master said, "Then it will take 20 years." "No!" said the committed student, "I will work three times as hard." "Well then," said the Zen master, "it will take 30 years."

Do you need to work at being spiritual? No. You already are spiritual. Do you need to work at being human? No. That’s just who you are.

The spiritual path doesn’t require us to get anything. It’s a process of opening to new dimensions of who we already are. It’s a process of awakening to our own truth. It’s a process of allowing ourselves to be authentic.

"It is not by your actions that you will be saved, but by your being."

-- Meister Eckhart

"People ask what must they become to be loving. The answer is ‘nothing.’ It is a process of letting go of what you thought you had become and allowing your true nature to float to the surface naturally."

-- Stephen Levine

"Dance Through Your Day"

"Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans: it’s lovely to be silly at the right moment."

-- Horace

Today, we invite you to do the Take-Your-Time Tango. In his book ‘Games for the Soul,’ Drew Leder challenges us to dance through our days with the graceful, slow elegance of a tango dancer.

Slow down a notch," Leder counsels. "Do whatever you do in a calm and leisurely fashion. ... As much as possible, don’t be driven by inner fear, external deadlines, or rushed companions to stumble through a speeded-up dance. Act as if you have all the time in the world. Come to think of it, you do: No one else has any more hours."

So stand (or sit) tall. Raise your chin as you gather your full concentration, dignity and self confidence to glide smoothly and beautifully through the day.

"We look at the dance to impart the sensation of living in an affirmation of life, to energize the spectator into keener awareness of the vigor, the mystery, the humor, the variety, and the wonder of life."

-- Martha Graham

"Three Levels Of Prosperity"

"Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons."

-- Woody Allen

To become more prosperous, we need to change on at least two levels. First, we must ensure our financial affairs are in order. We need an income that at least covers our expenses. And we need a foundation of habits, tools and skills so we achieve some financial stability in our day-to-day experience.

Second, we must become aware of the beliefs we hold around money and prosperity. If we unconsciously believe we are lacking in some way, then no matter what we do, we will unconsciously sabotage our own efforts to improve our finances.

And third, it's helpful to understand the spiritual principles that govern our level of abundance. Once we know those principles, we can work effectively within them to attract abundance to us.

"If you're prosperous in soul, you'll be prosperous in whole."

Small waves and large waves

A small wave in the ocean laments "Poor me. Other waves are so great in
size, yet I am so small. Other waves can travel so fast, yet I am so
inferior." Another wave replies "This is because you do not know your
true being, so you think you are suffering. A wave is your temporary
phenomenon. In actual fact, you are water. When you realize that your
true being is water, you will no longer be troubled by your physical
form, and therefore will no longer suffer."

"Create Consciously"

"No man has a chance to enjoy permanent success until he begins to look in a mirror for the real cause of all his mistakes."

-- Napoleon Hill

The law of karma is the law of cause and effect. It works unavoidably when there is no consciousness -- when we are not present in the moment. When there is no consciousness, the past creates the future.

The law of Love supersedes the law of karma. It intervenes in the process by focusing in the present. In fact, one could say that Love is being fully present. When anything is initiated in Love in the present, the future of that reality will be purposeful, meaningful, loving and powerful.

"He who is false to present duty breaks a thread in the loom, and will find the flaw when he may have forgotten its cause."

An Attitude Of Gratitude...

'Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.'

When we are wrapped up in our own worries and concerns, it is the easiest thing in the world to overlook all the good things we already have in our lives.

Ask yourself to focus on what's already working well in your life.

Ask and answer these questions each time you notice you are hungry. When you've fed your heart, it will be time to feed your body

  • Who do I love?
  • Who loves me?
  • What am I most grateful for in my life?
  • What is it about that which makes me feel grateful?

"The First Step To Forgiveness"

"To get to forgiveness, we first have to work through the painful experiences that require it."

-- Christiane Northrup

To forgive, we do not have to say that whatever happened was okay. In fact, before we can forgive, we need to allow ourselves to really feel the pain of the experience. If we don’t fully acknowledge our hurts, we will continue to carry them subconsciously and they will drain our energy.

To forgive, we need to decide that we won’t allow the memories of the event to poison us any longer. We’re ready to heal this wound from the past and open to a fresh new beginning.

The blessing is that when we’re really ready to experience our pain and we open to it, it usually fades away. By honouring our pain, we release it.

"We must let ourselves feel all the painful destruction we want to forgive rather than swallow it in denial. If we do not face it, we cannot choose to forgive it."

Dreams Come True...

"If you want to make your dreams come true,
the first thing you have to do is wake up!" ~J.M. Power

A magical manifesting life occurs the instant you are awakened from
the hypnotic dreaming mind. The very first step to awakening is
acknowledging this spiritually primal, yet foundational idea that YOU
AWARE of this one thought alone will create a new kind of aliveness
inside you.

With an awareness of the dreaming mind you can leave worrying in the

when the mind is off in desireland gives you the time and space to
REALIZEthat you already ARE an infinitely powerful manifesting

"What Message Did You Most Need To Hear?"

"One word frees us from the weight and pain of life; that word is love." --Sophocles

In exploring the enneagram, Riso and Hudson have identified ‘lost messages’ that we needed to hear as children but didn’t. The absence of these words may be at the heart of our most basic fear. And unconsciously we may still be seeking to hear these words from others.

Review the following messages and note if any one touches you more strongly than the others:

1. "You are good."
2. "You are wanted."
3. "You are loved for yourself."
4. "You are seen for who you are."
5. "Your needs are not a problem."
6. "You are safe."
7. "You will be taken care of."
8. "You will not be betrayed."
9. "Your presence matters."

"Oh the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are -- chaff and grain together -- certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with the breath of kindness blow the rest away."

Are You Being In Service?

Message from Divine Source through Barbara Rose - ======================================================================

Greetings Divine Ones,

I am going to ask you a few questions so that you can simply ask
yourself where you stand within your heart and mind, to know whether
you are being in service or in servitude.
Are you fulfilling the joys within your heart or are you struggling to
discover what your joys are?

Are you trying to attain anything outside of yourself to feel better?
Or are you loving the process of all that lies within the attainment?

Are you sacrificing your truth on any level of your life? Or are you
sharing your truth with yourself and all others, regardless of what
others might think, say or do?

Being "in service" means that you are serving from the joys in your
heart because it brings you joy to do so.

Being in servitude means that you are slaving away at a job, a
position, a relationship, or in material accumulation so that you can
somehow feel better from the outside in.

This is what is known as "spiritual slavery."

Spiritual slavery creates martyrs. It creates pain and sacrifice at
the expense of what feels true and good to you in your heart.

"Spiritual Service" means that in all of your words, deeds and
actions, you feel a sense of oneness with God, All of humanity, and
especially a sense of oneness within your own self.

I ask you to ponder the above questions and know without any doubt in
your heart and mind that you are not here in this life to do more, you
are here in this life to share and express more of who you are from

Soon, you may see areas of life on Earth seem to go bad. This is not a
punishment, this is a cause for life renewal. Many times, life renewal
must follow the old structures passing away first, before the new ones
can take their place. So do not ever fear what might seem to be outer
discord. Trust and know for sure that under the Divine Plan for all of
humankind, that the new, better, renewed and vibrant ways of truth for
all shall replace many old and rigid structures that have prevented
truth to emanate for all of humankind in many areas of life on Earth.

To some of you this may seem confusing. To some of you it is what you
already know. To others, you may ask: "What in the world does this

It means that in order for truth to prevail on all levels, what is
false must fall away. So bear in mind that if there are any areas of
your life where you find that a new and brighter way would be your
deepest joy, trust that as the old falls away, it paves the way for
what is truly in your heart to come forward in all areas of your life.

Never stay in a position where you feel that you must in order to be

You are the Divine in physical form. Your sense of oneness can only
come from your heart where you feel at one within your very own being.
So any area of your life where you feel fragmented, torn, not at one
within - this is the area where it would do you well to express the
divinity you hold inside by being honest enough with yourself where
you can finally say: "I AM That I AM" and come to know fully, and
without question, that you are the Divine in physical form.

Be patient with yourself as you grow. Follow what is in your heart and
take one step at a time. With every step you take, know that I am with
you, in you, as you, and guiding you from the depths of your heart and
soul where Divine Source dwells. Once you can feel and embrace your
own Divinity, you will know for sure that you are here for far greater
reasons than you may be currently aware of.

Each step, taken from your heart, combined with your deepest truth,
will always keep you on rock solid ground, where no outer circumstance
can throw you out of your inner equilibrium - for you will always feel
indwelling peace.

Trust in what your heart tells you. This is your truth. And, as you
bring it out into your life, you will be expressing your Divine
nature, and this is your gift of service to humanity.

Enjoy as you go along. Joy from your heart, joy in being, sharing and
expressing your purest truth is the joy of life on Earth.

Enjoy and Be Well.

"How Do You Play Your Roles?"

"What concerns me is not the way things are, but rather the way people think things are."

-- Epicetus

When we are basically unconscious, we live according to social roles. We perform as sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, employers and employees, as society expects us to.

As we grow in awareness, we gain the freedom to bring our own unique perspectives to these roles. We can express ourselves authentically and creatively, without letting our roles dictate how we should behave.

"Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinion of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth."

-- Katherine Mansfield

It's only your thoughts that hold you back!

Do not waste time trying to overcome your weaknesses and failures.
Simply raise your consciousness, transcend and free your thoughts
from limitation and illusion, and find within the very center of your
being a wholeness and completeness! Cease wallowing in your
imperfections and never accept limitations! Aim high, and you will
get there. It is only your thoughts that hold you back.

Flow with Life

by Swami Kriyananda from Material Success through Yoga Principles Course.

When you get upset or angry, or when you experience pain and suffering, it is only because you want something different from what life has given you. Learn to accept what is. It is only from that preliminary recognition that you can improve anything.

I read a story years ago about a man who was an inspiration to one much younger than himself for his calmness and wisdom. The younger one once asked him his secret. For his reply, the other showed him a small, very fragile sea shell.

"This is my secret," he said. He then explained:

"I used to be very wealthy. Then I lost everything in the stock market crash of 1929. I decided the only solution was to commit suicide. I packed my family off on a vacation, and then rented a small cabin by the ocean. My plan was to walk out into the water until the waves took me.

"I began walking out, but my plan was thwarted repeatedly by strong waves that beat me back to shore. The last time I fell, beaten down by a wave, I saw this little shell swirling close to me. It was completely unbroken. I picked it up. How, I asked myself, was it possible for this fragile thing to go churning safely through the waves when I myself was thrown back by them every time I tried to go forward? The answer was obvious: The sea shell hadn't resisted the flow! Might this, I reflected, be a lesson pertinent to my own case? Perhaps I'd been resisting the waves of my own destiny!

"I decided from then on that I would live, and that I’d go with the waves instead of resisting them. You see me now: successful again in business, but even more than that, happy and at peace."

Be a Mental Surfer

Contemplate that last thought, and make it your meditation. Think of life's circumstances as waves over which you have no direct control. Meditate on the thought of riding them. Don't fight or resist them. Be a mental surfer, going with the currents of life, but seeking always, as you ride them, to select the best wave, and the best current. You can ride wisely or foolishly, but you can never command the waves to be as you want them to be, or to go where you want them to go. Learn to flow with life, not against it, if you want to win through to freedom.

Children - From the 'Prophet'

"Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you, yet
they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their
own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in
the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For
life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you
with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in
the archer's hand be for gladness; For even as he loves the arrow that
flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable."

Opening Our Hearts

As lightworkers, our primary purpose is to heal ourselves, so that we may heal others.
When we open our heart chakras fully to Love, other people notice the glow that naturally emanates from deep within us. Even those with no knowledge of spirituality are drawn to our love and light. They notice something "different" about our peaceful nature, and the glow of Divine love triggers a deep, forgotten memory of God. So, the greatest mission that lightworkers can now embark upon is to lose their fears of love, so that their light can help to awaken our sleeping brothers and sisters.

The heart chakra becomes clogged, shrunken, and dirty from fears associated with love. It seems that every person has suffered pain in a relationship, including romantic, family, and friend relationships. This pain causes us to fear love. Yet, because love is the essence of life, this fear causes us to lose touch with life's true essence. We become confused and forget what true love feels like.

When we are afraid of love, we are literally afraid of being ourselves.
The fear of love leads us to become guarded, sarcastic, and defensive. We are so frightened of being hurt, manipulated, abused, or controlled, that we seal our heart away from all experiences of receiving or giving love. Unfortunately, when we close our hearts to love, we also shut off the awareness of God speaking through our intuition. Ironically, this intuition is the trustworthy guide that reliably leads us to relationships that honor and support us. When we block the awareness of Divine guidance, we are unaware of the angels' warnings about abusive relationships.

Here is a powerful healing meditation given to me by the angels, to help us lose our fears about love and cleanse and open our collective heart chakra. You may want to record this meditation with soft background music, so that you can easily listen to it once or twice a day:

"With your eyes closed, and in a comfortable position, take two or three very deep cleansing breaths. Visualize a beautiful cloud of emerald green light surrounding you.

As you breathe in, you take this healing energy into your lungs, your cells, and into your heart.

Concentrate upon your heart a moment, as you allow the emerald green light to cleanse away any negativity, which may have caused you to feel pain.

With a deep breath, allow the light to carry away any fears you may have about love. Be willing to release the fear of feeling love. You need do nothing else except breathe, and hold the intention to heal yourself of the fear of love. Just be willing to be healed, and God and the angels will do everything else.

Take another deep breath, as you become willing to release the fear of being loved, including the fear that if you are loved, you could be manipulated, tricked, used, abandoned, rejected, persecuted, or in other ways, hurt.

With another deep breath, allow all these fears from any lifetime to be lifted and carried away.

Now, allow the light to cleanse you of any fears you may have about giving love. With a deep breath, be willing to release the fear that if you give love, you could be controlled, abused, deceived, betrayed, maimed, or hurt in any way. Allow these fears to be lifted completely, and feel your heart expanding to its natural loving state.

Allow yourself to release any old unforgiveness you may be harboring toward those who seem to have hurt you in a love relationship.

Become willing to release unforgiveness toward your mother . . . toward your father . . . toward other parental figures . . . toward your siblings . . . toward your childhood friends . . . toward your adolescent friends . . . toward your first love . . . toward those whom you dated and loved . . . toward anyone with whom you lived or married . . . allow all of your hurts and disappointments associated with love to be cleansed and fully carried away. You don't want the hurt, you don't need it, and with another deep breath, it is lifted to the light where it is transmuted and purified. Only the lessons and the pure essence of love contained within each relationship remains, since that is the only thing that was ever eternal and real within each of your relationships.

Now, with another deep breath, allow the light to cleanse you completely. Be willing to release any unforgiveness you may hold toward yourself connected to love. Be willing to forgive yourself for betraying yourself, for ignoring your intuition, or for not looking out for your highest interests.

Give yourself a hug, either in your mind or with your arms. Reassure your inner self that you will never again engage in self-betrayal.

You now commit to following your intuition and discernment, so that you could never be or stay in any relationship that would hurt you. Fully release the unforgiveness for any mistakes that you think you may have made in any relationship, including your relationship with yourself. And with another very deep cleansing breath, feel yourself healed, whole, and ready to enjoy the love that is the truth about who you really are."

"Pay Attention To Your Emotions"

"Emotions are the next frontier to be understood and conquered. To manage our emotions is not to drug them or suppress them, but to understand them so that we can intelligently direct our emotional energies and intentions.... It's time for human beings to grow up emotionally, to mature into emotionally managed and responsible citizens. No magic pill will do it."

-- Doc Childre

Many of us believe that we need to keep a tight lid on our emotions. We fear that if we ever allow these emotions to be expressed, they will do serious damage.

But if we summon up the courage to truly feel our emotions, we discover that they don't last. The monster in the closet turns out to be a pussycat. In fact, if we are willing to experience our emotions completely, without resistance of any kind, they burn themselves out in only a few minutes.

The only thing that keeps emotions alive within you over long periods is your unwillingness to acknowledge them.

"By starving emotions we become humorless, rigid and stereotyped; by repressing them we become literal, reformatory and holier-than-thou; encouraged, they perfume life; discouraged, they poison it."

-- Joseph Collins

Glory is transitory

Glory is transitory
SIC TRANSIT GLORIA MUNDI. This is how St. Paul defines the human status in one of his epistles: So the glory of the world passes away. Even knowing this, man is always seeking recognition through his work. Why? One of Brazil’s greatest poets, Vincius de Moraes, says in one of his lyrics:
      “And yet, we must sing
more than ever we must sing.”
Vincius de Moraes is brilliant in these phrases. Recalling Gertrude Stein, in her poem “A rose is a rose, is a rose”, he just said that we must sing. He neither explains, nor justifies, nor uses metaphors. When I was a candidate for the Brazilian Academy of Letters, when going through the ritual of meeting its members, I heard something similar from member Josué Montello. He told me: “Every person has the duty to take the road that goes through his village.”
Why? What is on that road?
What force is it that impels us far from the comfort of what is familiar and makes us face challenges, even knowing that the glory of the world is transitory?
I believe that impulse is called: the search for the meaning of life.
For many years I looked in books, in art, in science, along the dangerous or comfortable paths I took, for a conclusive answer to that question. I found many, some which convinced me for years, others that did not stand up to a single day’s analysis; but none of them was strong enough for me to be able to say now: the meaning of life is this.
Today I am convinced that that answer will never be entrusted to us in this existence, although, in the end, at the moment when we are again before the Creator, we will understand each opportunity that was offered to us – then accepted or rejected.
In an 1890 sermon, clergyman Henry Drummond talks about that meeting with the Creator. He says:
“At this moment, the great question of the human being will not be: “How have I lived?”
Rather, it will be: “How have I loved?”
The final test of every search is the dimension of our Love. What we have done, what we believe in and what we achieved, will not be taken into account.
None of that will be demanded of us, but rather our way of loving our fellow human. The errors we have committed will not even be remembered. We will not be judged by the bad we have done, but rather by the good that we have failed to do. Keeping Love locked up inside oneself is going against the spirit of God; it is proof that we have never known Him, that He has loved us in vain.”
The glory of the world is transitory and it is not that which gives us the dimension of our life – but the choice we make of pursuing our personal myth, of believing in our Utopias, and fighting for them. We are all protagonists of our existences and very often it is the anonymous heroes that leave the most lasting marks.
A Japanese legend says that a certain monk, filled with enthusiasm by the Chinese book Tao Te King, decided to raise funds to translate and publish those verses into his mother tongue. He took ten years to collect enough.
In the meantime, a plague afflicted his country and the monk decided to use the money to relieve the suffering of the sick. As soon as the situation returned to normal, again he began to raise the money needed for publishing the Tao; more than ten years went by and when he was ready to print the book, a seaquake left hundreds of people homeless.
The monk again spent the money on rebuilding houses for those that had lost everything. A further ten years went by, he began to raise money and, finally, the Japanese people were able to read the Tao Te King.
Wise men say that, in fact, the monk made three editions of the Tao: two invisible and one printed. He believed in his Utopia, fought the good fight, remained true to his objective, but did not stop paying attention to his similar. I hope it will be like that with all of us: sometimes invisible books, emerging from generosity shown to one’s fellow human, are as important as those that fill our libraries.

"Two Views"

"... no matter what our difficulties may be, we recognize that there is a deep untroubled stream flowing below all surface troubles and that we are of one substance with that stream. The soul knows no difficulties."

-- James Thornton

Masters teach that we can experience two completely different states of reality at the same time -- from the personality and from the soul.

Author Pema Chödron talks about being hungry, cold and tired but at that same time deeply content. Ram Dass speaks of how the emotional heart can be breaking while we recognize that all is unfolding perfectly.

Allowing our soul to be present with the discomforts of the personality shifts our experience of the discomforts.

"True self simply refers to the aspect of our being that is completely aware of its expanded nature no matter what we may be experiencing in our lives."

-- Martia Nelson

Choosing Internal States

In the fertile soil of these first few days of 2006, I would like to
support you in laying the internal foundation for a deeply satisfying
and rewarding year ahead. As many wise sages have said, the greatest
predictor of the future is the past. It is my belief that once we learn
the lessons of the past - and are willing to really "get" those lessons
- we don't have to repeat them. Our souls are always trying to get us to
evolve. And just how do we evolve? Through learning the lessons of our
past - recognizing them, owning them and incorporating what we know into
our lives. So let's walk together through a simple exercise that will
reap huge rewards for you in the months to come.

Look Through the Eyes of the Universe

Take a deep, centering breath, and say to the universe: "I know you have
a very important lesson for me - my soul's lesson. There is something
very important that you've been trying to teach me through the
experiences, circumstances and people you've put in front of me. I
acknowledge that this lesson is imperative for me to learn in order to
have 2006 truly be a new new year and not a year of disappointing
repetition. What is that one lesson?"

Your New Internal State

Imagine that your soul is hungry. It's starving for a state of being -
an internal environment for you to live in each day. What are the
feelings that you most desire to have in 2006? With a deep breath and
big exhale, ask yourself: "What is the internal environment that I'm
longing to live inside of?" Is it an environment of love, peace, quiet,
safety, freedom, happiness, joy, aliveness? For example, one of my staff
members saw that she wanted to live in an environment of inner peace,
and in that space there would be a feeling of certainty for her. As you
listen for answers, continue to ask your soul to reveal what it hungers
for. And in the days and weeks ahead, it can be helpful to look inside
several times a day and gently ask yourself: "Am I cultivating that
feeling - that internal state?"

An Internal Shift

What two thoughts or beliefs would you have to let go of in order to
create that environment? Could it be letting go of what other people
think of you? Or the belief that you're not good enough, not worthy, not
safe, or not loved?

An External Shift

What would have to shift in your external world to support that new
internal environment? What two habits or behaviors would you have to let
go of in order to create your desired internal environment?
People-pleasing, pleasure-seeking, procrastination, disorganization,
staying in an unhealthy relationship, overworking?

Integrity Anchors

What two action steps are you willing to take this week to create this
internal environment? Choose two simple actions that will serve as
anchors to your nourishing inner state. Perhaps it's creating a new
morning ritual, taking a brisk daily walk, attending Weight Watchers,
playing a special piece of music for yourself, ten minutes of nightly
meditation, or scheduling the time to get radically organized so you can
handle your busy life with ease.

Miraculous New Beginnings

What, you may ask, will be available to you by learning the lessons,
letting go and leaving the past where it belongs? I believe that God is
always inviting us to re-create our lives anew. By embracing the
significant lessons of 2005, you're saying yes to miraculous new
beginnings. So really use this time to clean up your past, embrace your
dark and welcome your light. Our souls are always guiding us so that we
can evolve to that next level of consciousness. It can be oddly
reassuring to know that there are bumps in the road to every new level
of consciousness. And there are always new insights to be discovered and
new actions to be taken as we evolve our internal states. There's some
work to do, but the payoffs will be profound. I look forward to hearing
about your new beginnings as we travel into 2006 together.

Ubetinget kjrlighet

"Valuing The Moment"

"... the only time you ever have in which to learn anything or see anything or feel anything, or express any feeling or emotion, or respond to an event, or grow, or heal, is this moment, because this is the only moment any of us ever gets. You’re only here now; you’re only alive in this moment."

-- Jon Kabat-Zinn

Many people regularly squander their time. They live under the assumption that they'll live forever. As a result, they don't value the present as a precious opportunity that will never come again.

Others continually race against time, trying to cram too many activities into each hour, and suffering stress in the process.

In our view, we are more effective and most happy when we balance being and doing. We continually ask ourselves what’s most important to get done. And we’re learning to BE -- fully present -- when we do. We also regularly give ourselves permission to relax.

Make today really matter. It's all you'll ever have.

"Very few of us know how much we can put into life if we use it properly, wisely, and economically. Let us economize our time -- lifetimes ebb away before we wake up, and that is why we do not realize the value of the immortal time God has given us."
