Stu Mittleman is the world record holder for the 1,000-mile endurance run and a physical mastery guru. In an interview I once read, a reporter asked Mittleman how he had geared up mentally for running the equivalent of nearly 40 continuous marathons. Mittleman replied: "I never ran 1,000 miles! I can't even conceive of running 1,000 miles. All I did was run one mile a thousand times.!
